Whether you love or hate them, let's have some posts in the style of lyrics that would fit in a musical.

Since I can't stand the buggers, I'll begin:

So, it's always the same, (slow and mournful here)

you're out with a dame,

and you head to some local theeyater,

then you look at the stage

and your heart fills with rage,

and your anger could hardly be.....grea.....ter....ohhhhhhhh......(music speeds up)

Some guys come on singin', dancin' and singin',

an' slappin' their thighs as they go;

some dames then join in,

and you know you cain't win,

and there's three more darned hours in the show.........

Come on, Johnny Aitch and co. Who knows? We could reach Broadway......

I like musicals, especially live in the theatre they make for a great night out.

Sorry no lyrics.

What's the difference between a musical and an Opera, its not a joke, just asking a philisophical question (if I can spell correctly).

Actually, I TOO like a lot of the songs. Some friends of ours are quite keen that we should go along with them, I'm not fond of the idea, she hates it (and most things theatrical), so it's a running joke with my Mrs. and myself.

I'd say an opera is an acoustic musical (hence the big voices?) with, usually, a more serious theme or a tragic ending, but I don't know how accurate that is.

You and the misses should go, depends what it is obviously but she may enjoy it. I took my dad who's never been near a theatre in his life to see "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham and he absolutely loved it, mind you he is a big television cowboy fan!

What would you call West Side Story, musical or opera, no catch but used to have this discussion after many bottles of the red stuff.

Trying to talk the wife into going to see Les Mis at the cinema, looks really good.

Anyone seen it yet?

No but I saw it at the theatre here in the village, three hours of cack although the gaffer said the film was quite good.

Going to Shakespears Globe in a couple of months to see A Mid Summer Nights Dream. I know pretty much poop all about Shakespear apart from he use to have a sister and run a pub opposite the Rigger in 'Castle.

I think one is that there are spoken parts and singing in a musical whereas an opera is all singing

I also reckon Opera is technically limited to certain types of 'song' (Arias for example) and singers but not entirely sure about that
