Definitely would of preferred a centre back with a bit of pace but i rate Chilvers so not too fussed. Very good with the ball.

McDonald isn't good enough, I've said this all season, he's just one of them players to me that looks like he's always going to make a mistake.

Agree... I think this is a good move, At this stage in the season it's about not fu**ing it up. Chilvers suits the bill

Is he better than Owen? Yes. Is he better than McDonald? I'll leave that to people who go games to decide as I'm not qualified enough. Either way, he is good defensive cover and we do need that.

Hate to be boring, but surely where we need cover is full back. We only have two specialist full backs... duffy and yates, and they are both right sided (although yates has done okay on the left last two games). It's an important position where we have been really lacking for years.

I would have liked to see a left back come in, but we still have lofty and Yates that can play there

I think lofty should play there all season, gets forward a lot and has a good engine has been our best player last season and this reminds me of the time rudgey converted Simon mills into a full back from a midfielder .....masterstroke

You have to take players that will improve on what you've already got. Decent left backs are like hen's teeth so a good option might simply not have been available. Chilvers may not be a spectacular signing but it's steady and it's November nd the current squad have us in second place. The cup is half full and if the Hughes thing is confirmed our chances of promotion have just been enhanced.
