Duffy, Class act

I guess Yates was brought on to give him a runout ahead of Saturday, thinking Duffy will move into the middle and Yates will slot in at right back.

He`s ok but not as good as Yates at full back and last week showed he is no centre half. Biggest disappointment of the season for me.

I'm sorry but he's miles better than Yates defensively he's extremely solid not the best crosser but Yates get caught out so many times when a winger runs at him I feel much safer with Duffy at right back

 

Although I do worry about duffy's challenges in the box he's already given away 2 penalties and almost gave away another yesterday but even so if have him over Yates any day

I really don't agree. I'm not slating him, and he had a generally solid game but he's not shown anything special. He made me nervous at times and doesn't seem to be confident knocking the ball around. Against both Gillingham and Walsall I thought he was poor, and tonight he was mostly solid (getting bettter as the game went on) but unspectacular. If those performances deserve a thread praising him then we mist be scraping the barrel.

 

I'd have Yates back in certainly.

He's been solid, but he has had a few dodgy moments. You only have to look at McDonald to see who's been the 'class' defender this season

Poor signing in my eyes. Does not get forward and when he does he cannot cross without hitting the front man. Yates deserves a recall.

 

He doesnt need to get forward when he has JMW in front of him!

 

The combo of JMW and Duffy destroyed Oxford's left side last night. Great to watch!

Duffy is a class above Yates, how can some people not see this?

 

Better defensively, better going forward. Alright, Yates may be better at swinging balls into the box but Duffy has international pedigree.

Have to agree. Think Yates may benefit from run at full back. Duffy cannot cross a ball and is slow in going forward. Having said that I suspect he is not yet fully fit, as Mickey keeps substituting him. I'm Vale through and through so I will give Duffy benefit of doubt and accept he is part of a strong defence and can only get better.

 

Duffy's crossing has been good in my opinion or have I missed something?! I do miss Yates' quality crosses - NAAAAAT

Duffy - a big improvement on Yates.

 

We need a class left full back. The danger always seems come from the opponents right wing.

Can't believe people are saying Duffy is no better than Yates. Yates can't defend aginst tricky wingers, his use of the ball is woeful (hoofs it to Pope all the time) and he can't beat the first man with a cross. Duffy's crossing might not be the best, but at least he can defend and pass.

Yates had a far better game than Duffy has had at right back all season at Walsall, saying that Yates was poor last season. On Duffy's last 2 performances I would recall Yates to the starting line up.
