Match Thread - Port Vale v Plymouth Argyle

Featured Replies

The worrying thing is that Carol had to be convinced by a group of well-meaning fans to sack Flitcroft. In the meeting she wasn’t having it.

I’m not sure she quite gets football on the level she needs to.

I still haven't bought my ticket for that game, usually make an effort for the home cup games but you do wonder as a fan at what point do you stop being a mug?

Neither have me and my Dad and we've both said now that we aren't going.

The rich people are supposed to funnel the money in and let football people do football stuff. I don’t understand why she’s invested to the incredible, philanthropic levels she has without putting competent football people in charge to make sure it’s not all a waste.

Fans chanting: “Darren Moore your football is <ovf censored>.” Carol: “I like it, crack on son.”

She’s also got overly personally attached to one of her employees again.

Flitcroft, Crosby, Clarke, Askey, anyone remember Sinclair?

She becomes buddies with these people. Goes out with them socially. Can’t bear to sack them.

There's a reasonable chance she'd have spent less money in recent years had she just employed a football operations / recruitment consultancy who specialise in, basically, setting clubs up to do a Brentford.

She's spent an unbelievable amount of her own family money on us.

It is accordingly very difficult to criticise.

But bloody hell Carol, why do we keep making the same mistakes repeatedly when it comes to decisive decisions?

At some point you have to question whether she’s spending so much money because her decision making is poor?

It shouldn’t take this much money and stress to keep PVFC in League 1.

Radio Stoke just said as they understand it there is no immediate threat to Moore's job as the club tries to turn things around

If that’s true, then the club is deluded beyond belief.

If he stays, things will quickly turn toxic - everyone’s had enough and can see how hopeless Moore is. Carol has done wonders for us but her grasp of football management and her judgement are seriously at risk. All she’ll do is put us in a worse position, alienate the fan base and lose her hard-earned credibility. Not to mention getting us relegated.

After the last four months, how on earth does she think he can turn it around?

Someone in the club needs to get a grip and make the hard decisions to get us out of this mess.

I do. She's made her money, now wants to do some good. I don't mean that in a disparaging way but there is a focus and attention on the philanthropy that has garnered her rewards (and I refuse to believe anybody does things for altruistic reasons).

As for the stewardship of the club side, done largely a good job. Gates are very good, considering we are rock bottom and 6,500 Vale fans were there today. But I remember the days of less than 5K, and they are not days I want to see the club go back to.

There has to be change before many of the pay on the gate fans stop coming.

She doesn’t understand football at all I’m afraid.

Baby Crèches and Food banks yes !

She’s not even got the courage to explain to the fans why she won’t make a change.

She’s just the custodian nothing more.

The club will still be there when she’s long gone, she’s doing herself no favours at all.

She handed all the keys to the footballing side of the club to Moore.

Where was the oversight?

Who signed off on Waine, Marosi, Faal, Shipley? Where were the checks and balances?
