Cleverley under pressure too be sacked so surely Moore is .

Its no wonder the home crowds quiet in games .

Our fans obviously can see we CAN NEVER STEP UP too this level .

Ive tried be optimistic i really have and bar last 2 games ,i think theres being fight in all the other games (didnt see Wigan or yesterday ) the highlights i saw would suggest the Vale  should have scored 4 times at least .

You dont go 1 down and give up though thats last 2 games .

Maybe its the ojo saga maybe half are with him and half are still playing for the manager but not enough for us too be competitive

When BG went off v Northampton his head was down and he hardly acknowledged the hamil as went off at Railway ,whats wrong with him the fans love him ,i just dont get it a newly promoted club giving up when have everything too gain and nothing lose .

The die hards probably say we should be losing too the likes of Bolton ,the players dont need go out and prove that do they so alarmingly and embarassing the whatever amount went in end at least 1500 .

Wycombe are flying and Plymouth are as bad as us .

If go fall out players between yourselves in changing room or too a better phrase play too get the manager sacked can you let the die hards know so we can find something else do on matchdays

Cause i sure as hell can not be doing in watching something lie down and be beaten so easily once fall behind .

Show some character for every fan /follower who goes out there watch you .

You got people on here who dont even go and they obviously seen the light ,the last 2 performances will kill Port Vale its no good the manager has too be axed as this cannot continue.

Has too be done today

Smurthwaite wasn’t stupid , but he was evil. He walked away with almost £5M, the bastard.

No, he was very thick. I had sufficient encounters with him to conclude that. Could barely string a sentence together.

Don’t equate ‘making money’ with intelligence. They’re not the same thing at all. He walked away with nothing overall as he’d spent more than that on his purchases and investments.

The worry is he made a better fist of League 1 than we seem capable of at present.

Genuinely no idea why people want Ainsworth. Not a single person would be mentioning him if he hadn't played for us for 12 months. If people think Mooreball is bad, they'd be having a coronary after a few weeks of Ainsworth.

I never understand why people get so snobby about a teams style of football. I would have no problem watching a side that’s competing, has desire and has a some consistency about them in their tactics and selection…… even if means they are direct or getting it out wide to wingers as quickly as possible. Not a problem for me. Would people rather we look pretty and go down?

For me Moore has to go before we get to the Christmas period. Our constant team rotation is an issue and does nothing for consistency or players being able to form relationships on the pitch. I think if we lose next week he’s done for. But my concern is if we get a result then we’ll end up hanging on to him for too long.

Also just read that captain fantastic didn’t travel back with the squad either and flat out refused to get on to the team coach.

That’s not entirely unusual and i wouldn’t read too much into that. He lives near Liverpool doesn’t he, so he could just as easily jump into a car with his mrs, family member or friend to get home. No need for him to come back to Stoke.

Nah ,He's got to go , can't defend the indefensible

Sorry, my point was based on what I think Carol might be thinking. Not me.

Vale fans complete fascination with former players and managers is unrivalled.

So far, on the Wonder of You, the only names I have seen mentioned for a managerial replacement are Mickey Adams, Gareth Ainsworth and Andy Crosby

Nah, I'd rather have Savage than Mr Blobby

That’s the new, slim Steve Evans now…he has lost big weight. The pies are like kryptonite to him.

This is a typical Vale fans response when thinking of a replacement new manager.

He goes from Daryl Clarke to Gareth Ainsworth in a heart beat

I think the reason we did better in league 1 under Smurfwaite was because we had a stronger management structure with Adams mentoring Page with good continuity to his era and we all underrated Rob Page.

If Smurfwaite did have a strength, he was ruthless and not afraid to get nasty if things were not going well. Unfortunately he was also selfish and if things were not going well for him personally with the club, that’s all that mattered. He was above Vale, which isn’t the case with Carol.

On a side topic, the 14.08 train from Deansgate station was late. Very late.

Initially it wouldn't give a time at all on the boards, then it said about 22 minutes past, then 23, 24, but it kept on creeping up, minute by minute. Me and a couple of mates were stood on the platform watching it unfold and decided to get an Uber. I believe it eventually turned around at a quarter to three and plenty of Vale fans would have probably got in just to see us go one goal down.

I've just made a claim using the excellent* Delay Repay scheme and I've been told I can expect to get back the grand sum of £2.08.

You've taken the words right out of my mouth, the recruitment has been poor. This runs far deeper than rhe manager.

I agree but who appointed Darnborough… err a certain Mr Moore

It would be a risk, but I wouldn’t mind us going in a different direction. I’m getting bored of these ‘proven, experienced managers’ who have been sacked by numerous clubs previously.
It’s a gamble, I know, but I wouldn’t mind a left field appointment, similar to what Luton have done with Wilshire.

Either someone like that, who will at least get us playing some decent stuff so I can stomach watching us or someone who is a proven tactician, Paul cook or as Joe mentioned, Bowyer at Burton is an excellent manager. I know a few within at Burton and they can’t sign his praises any higher. Manning has had a horror show at Norwich but is a good manager, would see him as a big step up as well. I personally rate Karl Robinson quite highly and then you have Bloomfield. Some decent names out there.

Honestly though, I just want a change from Moore. I posted last season that I probably only enjoyed a couple of games last season. I can certainly count on 1 hand the games I’ve come away from thinking that was a great game and we played some nice stuff. Sick of these dour 1-0s although I’d snap your hand off for that given what we have seemingly turned into.

Let’s see him sacked urgently. No sitting about waiting. We will probably end up scraping a win to keep him in the job for another 2 months and be bottom by Christmas.

I've just watched the EFL Show. The new manager at Peterborough, Luke Williams, seems to have a good, attacking approach. 5 0 they hammered Wimbledon.

DMs cautious, cagey, negative, boring football has to get results. When it doesn't, fans immediately want a change.

I suspect the club will give him the month of November to turn things around.

I don't think he will be able to turn it around because he is stubbornly sticking with the three centre back system, which is now leaking goals at a worrying rate. Also, other teams are now settled and playing as "teams". We've got no team understanding because of the constant chopping and changing of players every single game. Plus players who do well and have good games (Paton, G Hall, Walters, Ojo...) get dropped regardless of how good they play or how much they positively impact games.

We're crying out for a front two of Stockley with Cole, and Paton playing deep just behind them. Four at the back. Stick with it for ten games. I doubt DM will still be here in ten games, though.

While the usual suspects are relentlessly hounding the manager (and rightly, to an extent after today), I think the issues run far deeper than just Darren Moore.

The recruitment, while good in parts, has been dire in others. Only Gabriel, Humphreys, Johnson and Cole are what you would call League One standard players, the rest of our signings were squad fillers, increasing quantity and not quality - Waine, Marosi, Faal, Shipley to name but a few, while others, like Brown, are hard workers but lack any real cutting edge.

So the recruitment team must also take some of the blame. Last year, our recruitment seemed good, picking up experienced players who could handle the physicality and technical requirements of the division like Stockley, Heneghan, Tolaj, Curtis and Amos, but obviously backed by a big budget for the level.

This year, since Lee Darnborough has been involved, we've signed dross that no one else wanted, the aforementioned ones above being good examples, so our squad building wasn't a matter of improvement, but finding cover.

You would have also banked on the recruitment team having a plan B if the inevitable happened and someone came in for Tolaj, which they did, and we were caught with our pants down, meaning Moore went after a player (Brown) had been after since before Darnborough's arrival, and Cole, a player he knew anyway.

So what was Darnborough and the recruitment team doing?

The players also have to take some responsibility. They shouldn't be excluded from blame here, they have made enough mistakes that have cost us goals through ineptitude or lack of care. Moore can't legislate for Debrah doing what he did against Stockport, or Gauci letting the ball go through him for the first today, or Curtis heading the ball across his own box at Wigan.

So they need to pick their ideas up too.

There is some reasonable concerns to be had, and I think a lot of people who are sensible see that, whereas a couple on here (thats you Nippy and you Swanny), come across as illiterate thickos who just want the manager fired to suit their own ends, rather than the good of the football club.

In short, Moore has been at fault today, but laying all the blame for this season squarely at his door seems incredibly short sighted when it seems there are issues that go far beyond him.

If Carol sacks him, then he will have paid for negative tactics and overcautious team selection, but its naive to think a new manager (and there aren't many decent ones out there, let's not forget) will wave a magic wand and change things straight away.

Can’t agree at all with this. For the last 18 months, when people have criticised Moore, the main positive people have always brought up about him is his ability to attract better players in the transfer window. Now thats turned into a shambles, it’s not his fault but the recruitment teams? And if thats the case then there really is no reason to keep him, because he offers nothing tactically, whether in the way he sets his teams up or the ability to change a game.
