So how much do we think we would have received for Cole and Curtis respectively?

personally i'd guess around 200k for Cole and 100k for Curtis.

thoughts please?

I'm glad that at least one local paper still covers us.

I have to admit it's very strange that The Herald are covering us when we aren't even Scottish nor is the manager. Although that being said they do cover teams from England but I'm just surprised that they are covering us.

Or you could look at it differently - he isn't giving anything away until any possible deals are completed.  I would have been really peaved if he had come out and said " I am after a 20- 25 year old strike from a championship team and now we have the money from the Cole deal I can press on with that . "

Exactly how much do you want him to divulge about incomplete approaches ?

Personally I would like him to keep his cards close to his chest until deals are completed.  We may be  interested , but we are not obliged to be kept informed about commercial business decisions. We don't have a say in who, when and for how much, no matter how much we think we are .

It's not on Brady to sign players. We have a head of recruitment.

Brady seemed slightly concerned that the club were potentially going to end the window without signing a striker. He was giving away that he didn't hold much faith in the recruitment department, much like the fans.

I've said before, but I feel sorry for the bloke. If we do play the second half of the season with two strikers on the books then he'll be the one who'll take the flak for the poor results. Even though it wouldn't really be his fault.

If we don't sign a stricker (s),  it is horribly similar to 2 years ago. Yes Stockley is better, Wayne tries more,  but I'm struggling to see where the goals are going to come from to give us a sniff.  Is Paton injured,  out of favour  or on his way? Any ideas ?

I really thought  Browne would return and we would try something different.

Another proper winger would help

You do know we are now soon to be in February 26, this statement is relevant to 10 weeks in league one 25.

So if he doesn’t see Ruari as a 9 but a 10 or wide forward, we’d need to play a 10. Basically confirming he’s not in the plans and is a backup player if anything.

If people thought Brown was bad today because he was isolated and poor passing, Stockley was worse for me. Orient would have been difficult for any striker though and Paton wouldn’t have solved that. Hopefully we find a striker with some legs to close down from the front and can carry the ball. I’d almost be tempted to put George Hall in there if we had no other choice.

Ideally we need ST, RW and CM. To get all 3, that probably puts Ruari out on loan.

Brady not a fan of the younger players? Not given Shorrock a chance, shipped out plant. Not given Walters a go. I love it when managers give the clubs own youth players a chance but in the early days Brady seems against this

In his interviews, he sounds very much like he has a developmental mindset and wants to work with younger players to develop them. The problem we have in our situation is, he’s trying to compete to stay in this division - as much as most of us believe relegation is a forgone conclusion, it’s still his job to get the players to get as many points as possible. Which is why I don’t think he’ll risk the youth players just yet given the hostility from fans towards the players

So, you believe everything that you read?

Not everything no but on on the Cole situation then yes

A few people said that he had approached Carol to say he wanted to leave and now he himself has said as soon as he heard of Lutons interest he wanted to go,so what they said is very plausible and Brady also said that had had his head turned,he also has an history of not staying long at clubs,so i stick by what i said anyone who doesn't want to play for this club can <ovf censored> off no matter how good they are

I wouldn't always disbelieve everything you read either, there is obviously nonsense written and posted out there but not everything is untrue

Cole never looked interested. never looked happy. Glad he’s gone. Would certainly have failed the DC d1ckhead test. Was needs must at the time so a lesson learnt, anyone at any cost will not end well.

I just think that’s his demeanour. His Dad was not much different. I would agree though probably not someone we hire if they go through the Port Vale club values personality test. But then I really don’t care about that. I’m not one of those people that needs to meet my heroes or stand around waiting for them before/after games or for a selfie.

He did his job well enough, could have done it better with the right support around him.

We still have a problem, two now actually. 1) A striker that can find the net.
2) And how we actually provide them service.

Big job for Jon to solve those as the window closes.

How would Devante Cole have failed any <ovf censored> test?

Cole is a 30 year old with 100 career goals. There's never been any reports, at any club, of him being anything other than a good professional.

Bizarre post.

It’s probably because Cole hasn’t been lying about what a great club Vale is to play for, all the cliches and platitude crap you hear a lot of them come out with. It’s just a job for Cole and that’s been fine. I never really saw him not put in anything less than his all when he played.

Only thing I notice is some haters think he should be scoring every shot he takes and doing everything himself.

Saw one story of someone meeting him in public and Cole blanked them so he’s an arsehole for that. As a footballer/celeb he’s entitled to his private life and shouldn’t have to drop what he’s doing to please some fan (young or old)

Of course his head’s going to be turned by Luton.

But the way people make sh11t up about players when they leave is diabolical.

how dare any player want to play for any other club apart from the Vale

Just remember that playing for Vale is just a job to each and everyone one of those players.
