You mean the team challenging for the championship play offs? And it’s not just how they are run, it’s just having the abilty to Google (or chatgpt) who has captained our side this season when we (and I don’t for one second think we will) ask for an extra 200 grand because we made him captain for one game where we had the worst performance of the season. It’s a ridiculous theory that’s just grasping at Straws to excuse a poor decision.

Challenging for the playoffs after how many years of abject failure?  Talking of google, take a look at some of the players who have come and gone down there and where they ended up.

Debra is the worst signings in the context of where we are/were. Lots of awful signings in the administration periods. Which again gives context.

My mistake. Clearly misunderstood the meaning of 'ever' on the end of your original post.
People laughed at what i said last week, but i stand by what i said, Players like Devante cole’s calibre dont come along every window, we should be doing everything in our power to keep hold of someone can fire us to glory next year, As much as people slated more and i understand he was no saint, he built a squad with players who’ve been there and done it, i cant understand this one
Jesus wept. We got worse and worse under Moore. Every sub he made we got worse. A.d the 'calibre ' of players? Which ones?

No. My mistake. I didn't make it clear originally.

Why would he want to be here when the club has given up? What would  you do? Stay with a side guaranteed to be in league2 and probably take a wage reduction or go to a bigger side who could go up and get a wage rise

Are we a nation of quitters when the going gets tough? Seems like it. Have some heart, have some soul and have some balls.

Absolutely mate, couldn't agree more 👍👏👏👏 but I just can't be @rsed 🙈🙈🙈😁👍

As I said previously, I am a Cobblers fan, I originally joined this forum to find out your opinions on the clown that was Rob Page, he didnt last very long with us..  Iwont go into my opinions on Brady except to say that he was OK for us, yeah I know we got promoted but it wasnt very inspiring football, and he had very few contacts to call upon, lots of loans will beckon your way. Maglorie is an absolutely appalling prima donna of a signing, who will cry off at the first available opportunity. I dont wish to outstay my welcome, so I will sign out. Best of luck, we probably will be meeting in league two again next year, and I like my trips to Burslem, old skool pubs and town centre grounds are always a good day out. [emoji846]
Football is pretty uninspiring all over. Same coaching course and badges. Dull as.

Sounds like he’ll fit in well with our current lot

Maybe playing part time in the 7th tier has improved him

You should have seen the football we were playing before Brady arrived. Or better not to if you value your sanity.

Just to clarify before I criticise him, he also goes with my best wishes.

The difference between Smith and Debrah is, Smith can defend. He’s a very limited footballer but is good defensively. What does it say about Debrah that all people can say about him is that ‘he has pace’. It’s not like he’s good on the ball either.

In an ideal world I’d have released Smith and Debrah and signed better. If we were only going to keep one I’d have kept Smith (purely only to play back up), as I can trust him more to keep the ball out the net.

I said in the summer if we go with Debrah as one of our centre halves we will be relegated, and was largely derided. Well here we are. Terrible from Moore.

I’d agree with this but just add Smith was, I believe, out of contract.  No doubt Debrah would’ve been released had it been the other way around.

Debrah was out of contract I believe but there was an extension clause activated. Whether that was from the clubs side or him (like the one Leon had if he made x amount of appearances who knows).

Its not really giving up from my perspective. Its pragmatic. The mistakes were made well before Jan. We couldn't have turned this around this month, whatever they did.

Shipping people out and saving money might be a better long term solution. They are expensive and have shown that they dont want to do the necessary on a Saturday.

Whether that will all come good is another story. This could spark a very rapid drop but again I think that ships already set sail so not much we could have done this month anyway.

If you look at it in pure business terms it probably is pragmatic but football is not like other businesses, it plays on emotions. We are not merely customers, we have an emotional attachment to the club.

Selling our only goalscorer in this position without replacing him is the club saying "we're writing this season off, we give up this season." As a fan, I can believe the season is done but a club cannot publicly express this even if its their belief.

Its a matter of pride if nothing else. Do you think they would stop selling matchday tickets? Do you think they will stop taking corporate hospitality money? Do you think they will stop asking for support on away trips? Do you think the club shop will no longer be open for business?  No, they will continually ask us to spend more money despite their own public declaration that they have given up.

That would be unacceptable to me, pragmatic perhaps, but it simply cannot happen without massive fallout in a game where people are not customers, but fans with a great sense of pride in their football club.

Yeah agreed. it was obvious from a squad building POV with both being out of contract one of them was going to go. I would have kept Smith of the two but wasn't surprised Moore chose Debrah as he picked him more often in the L2 season. I'd wager that Moore probably just liked Jesse personally over Smudger.
