As this is the rumours thread(I think 🙂 ) As someone posted last night,a Grimsby fan linked us to a move for Cameron McJannet, now i know this is off a random fan but at least it's a rumour

Does anyone know anything about McJannet, the position he plays for them

Left sided centre back. Presumably replacement for Connor Hall.

Though I would think if we end up with another defender after signing the lad yesterday it looks likely that JB is going to revert to 3 or 5 at the back, which he's already hinted at doing in press conference.

I hope wiki is wrong then as it has his height at 5'8 🙂 having said that though it has Archers height at 6'2 now if that is right then i must be 12 foot 4 🙂

Maybe, but it’s probably more a case of nobody from a higher league/level wanting to come in to a team at the bottom of the league and certain for the drop. The only players who’ll see us an attractive position are desperate ones - desperate for a contract and likely to be not much cop ones - or in non-league and desperate to move upwards whether they’re cut out for it or not. This window isn’t the one to judge Brady IMO - it’s a sticking plaster on an open wound situation. Summer will be the one to measure by. No use paying over-inflated prices now for what will essentially be fill in players. Get good prices for our players while in contract but unwanted, or out of contract at the end of the season and likely to leave on a free - now - and get better value for less money in the summer.

Completely agree, but I still believe we can do better than an injury laden 27 year old from the 7th tier.

Happy to sell, happy to give kids a chance, happy to use this as an opportunity to look at loan players who are out of contract at the end of the season.

32yr old LW/LM played around 200 games for Norwich but got released in the summer,Charlton signed him on a short term deal in September and then they released him a couple of days ago so he is now a free agent
Oh, okay[emoji1303]thanks for the info

Well FM26 has Ruari Paton's jumping reach as 14/20, people get things wrong 😄

But you don't need to be tall to be a good centre half, just look at Lisandro Martinez.

Tbf to the lad he's not from the 7th tier, its just where he went on a non-contract basis to get fit and work with a former coach. His last full time contract was League 2.

Yes, we all want players with profile and played in leagues above, but we've got a lot of players with experience in L1 and the Championship already who are not performing.

It doesn't seem to mean a whole lot.

He's under contract until the summer and replaces Jesse, who himself came from non-league Halifax anyway.

Maybe a slight upgrade on a player, nothing special, but we are bottom and seemingly no money to spend so what are people expecting?

So regarding strikers who do we think we should target or try to bring in,realistic ones though obviously

I have already said i wouldn't mind us trying to sign Mellon from Burnley if they will do a deal, although he is currently playing for his dad.

Others I guess would be national league level

Despite 5 players going, the squad is still too big. We have too many goalies, right backs and strikers. What a waste of money. In my opinion club and manager are doing the right thing now. Lets see what happens with the big rebuild next season

Won't be signing anybody now IMO, though a loan is possible.

I'd go for a player with a bit of pace, dribbling and ball control on loan, probably quite a few of those about in PL2 if we can get one in.

To sign somebody now is going to be costly in transfer fee and wages.

I do agree, look at one of the most cultured CB's i have seen here in Dean Glover(around 5'10) i just think 5'8 is a tad small at this level(sorry to be heightest) it would be like when Rudgie played the 5'4 full back(name escapes me) at CB for one game, one of the weirdest things i have seen,he was quick though

If we make no more signings I think this goes down as the worst transfer window for port vale. Worst I can remember anyway.

It is what you do though IF you want to try and stay up,plenty of clubs do it but as a club we have totally given up and that really does anger me a lot tbh

Why should we pay do watch it if they cant be arsed to give it a go at least... I mean 3 wins on the bounce you are back in the game(i know we have won only 4 all season but hey ho),so to get rid of better players and then not spend to replace them is wrong to me

It seems Moore used the last of the kitty on Marvin Johnson.

I don't think it's been a good window by any means. The only plan seems to be to cut down the squad, I expected another winger as well to be honest. We do probably need to replace Ojo and Shipley as well.

I'm surprised at certain players seemingly unwanted that might not feature that I feel could offer something, will just have to see what the close season brings.

Get no argument from me, but all signs from the club seems to be tightening the purse strings and giving up on staying in L1.

Tightening the purse when constantly bringing in decent fees for players and 3 very good cup runs is not a good look imo.
