Why would he want to be here when the club has given up? What would  you do? Stay with a side guaranteed to be in league2 and probably take a wage reduction or go to a bigger side who could go up and get a wage rise
Are we a nation of quitters when the going gets tough? Seems like it. Have some heart, have some soul and have some balls.

You could examine most transfers we've made over recent years and there will be someone giving at least one reason for each player why they aren't initially rating them, or unsure of them. Tolaj coming from non-league even with a record still had some holding cards to their chest because we 1) needed promotion and 2) he didn't have a record yet proving he could do it at that level. I distinctly remember @valiant_593 calling for us to sign Devante Cole back then and the season before many, many times. In fairness to him though had at least watched a few games of Devante playing to have an opinion.

But yeah - Injury record a common one, league they are coming from is another, stats off a wiki page another people use to beat players with a stick when they've joined. The common denominator in a lot of them is fans passing judgement when they haven't seen any of them play.

Tolaj was always quality.
For me I’ve always rated Cole, was delighted when we got him and at that time I did not see us struggling this season. I know he’s a bit of a mercenary but he scores goals and will continue to do so. Sometimes it’s not right to pass judgement too early, I’ve done it on here numerous times and been left with egg on my face but there are other times where I think you can form a decent opinion based off stats and fan opinions. Players like Waine are a prime example of this. It’s a mixed bag on everything imo. I’ve seen Marosi before he signed and thought he was dreadful and I saw Shipley on many occasion and thought he was a really good signing and he’s been awful

Maybe but pair that with a far more attractive offer I know which most would take up. I agree with you but I just think 99% of players would chose to move

Tolaj looked quality. Always did. My mates who support different teams who watched him all said the was a footballer. A real footballer.

I'm not saying he didn't or wasn't. I'm just saying it's daft to have an opinion on someone based on hearsay or stats without using your own eyes. You'd really hope that the club recruiting players don't have the same standards when bringing someone in, you want them to be watching them.

If you trust someone else's opinion enough then fair play. But there's plenty of people who come along and say a certain player is good - we had that cobbler saying Magloire is quality. Owls fans told us Byers would rip up the league when he joined us. Why should we believe any of that before we've seen them for ourselves though is the point? Just full of BS otherwise.

Of course you would.

Really? If you genuinely think that then I dread to think what you thought of the likes of Danny Whitehead, Martin Paterson and many, many more. Debrah isn't even in the top 50 of our worst signings. And I'm only thinking back about 6 years
ONE of the worst signings.

Yeah this is just where I'm wary. When I saw Tolaj clips for the first time he looked good to me but it wasn't until I saw him play I was able to have an informed opinion.

It can be a good guide at times, but I'm just naturally sceptical of having opinions made up of BS, would much rather give it a chance and confirm any suspicions with my own eyes than just deciding based off on what someone else or some stat says.

Debra is the worst signings in the context of where we are/were. Lots of awful signings in the administration periods. Which again gives context.

I'd say Debrah did actually improve a bit from when he was first with us mind, but still not good enough.

Him getting bullied off the ball in front of the Hamil by a striker half his size still gives me nightmares.

I could push over Eddie Hall if I catch him off balance.

Most improved player award. The award no one wanted as a school boy.

People laughed at what i said last week, but i stand by what i said, Players like Devante cole’s calibre dont come along every window, we should be doing everything in our power to keep hold of someone can fire us to glory next year, As much as people slated more and i understand he was no saint, he built a squad with players who’ve been there and done it, i cant understand this one
