Carlisle Utd v Port Vale match thread - 18th April

Featured Replies

Vale 76 points top .

3 to go 2 at home .

Today well we must be the giving society .

You could see from first minute players were not up to the job .

How's it take you 65 mins get going on a day when we could have clinched top 3

Thar was a seriously poor performance .

Who comes out of it  with credit

Hart .Byers

The rest better go have a good long look at themselves going into mons game

Everyone needs to keep their heads and get back on the horse. There’s still a lot to play for. UTV.

I’m glad there’s such a quick turnaround. No time to dwell on it. Only thing Tolaj will know himself is he probably struck it at a nice height to be saved but it was one of those you never got the feeling it was going in. He’s earned us far more points himself this season so just get ready to put it right Monday.

I know Tolaj missed the pen today but since he came back in to the side the guy has bin a revelation and scored some crucial goals so let's get behind the lads on Mon I reckon today was just a blip first half was nowhere near that's what cost us but I'm expecting a big response to the setback 2day we need to be in Grimsby's faces from get go  ,

Get in to em # Up The Vale

It was a pants penalty effort by  Tolaj but it's the whole of the of the game that got us the result we ended up deserving.

Bad day at the office.  Not on DM that one. Played the right starting line up and made changes early enough. Beaten by a better team on the day. Some poor performances but I’m not critical after the run we’ve had. Just one of those days.

still top. 3 games to go. You’d have taken it at the start if the season.

reaction Monday hopefully

Walters was decent first half. On first half performance alone one of Garrity and Croasdale should had been substituted. Clark played pretty well. Shorrock was good going forward in the first 20 minutes. Once they found a way to pen us into our defensive third he struggled  Stockley won most things in the air. Tolaj had a poor first half but was good for a spell in the second. Overall I'd say Clark was the best of a bad bunch.

Still very much ours to lose. Win the two home games and we go up.

I didn't say it wasn't a pants penalty 🙄

He telegraphed where he was putting it with his run up and body movement

I'm saying he's scored crucial goals at crucial times recently and Mon is absolutely massive now like I said there needs to be a big response from our lads to show us how badly they want this # UTV

Can’t stand Bowers he sounds so happy when things go wrong for Vale He talks such tripe most of the time

Eh...??  Sounded incredibly down to me. He hates Vale losing. Big Bowers fan me

That first hour was totally unacceptable. No intensity or desire to compete in the game. Well done Carlisle though, they were the complete opposite and seemed to grow in confidence when they realised how poor we were. If we’d have scored that pen it would have been a travesty really. Pressure is on for Monday now as we’ve got out of jail with the other results

The one thing that is not up debate is that IF we do go up, then we need 3 new CB’s.

Mate I really didnt need to read that 🙈🙈🙈🤣🤣🤣

No they haven't ! They have the 4th best away record and they have only took 4 more points away from home than Salford Or Crewe the teams sat in middle of the league 2 away win table are only 5 points off Grimsby and some will have played a away match less, also Port Vale have the 3rd best home record in the league

Prefer penalties to be belted as hard as possible

Never a dull moment with the Vale 😜

Lets all get down there Monday and get behind the lads.

Put this one behind us. The lads and gaffer need us, as nervous as we will all be Monday.

KTF 🙏

I just thought with how late it was in the game and considering by his standards he was having a pretty poor game would’ve been better to perhaps give it someone more experienced? Byers?

all ifs and buts and maybes…. He’s the top scorer he will demand that penalty I suppose. Nice height for the keeper anyhow and if goes the right way he saves it just as hornby would’ve done with the penalty at Walsall.

let’s hope we’ve had our shocking performance now and we get back to three points Monday which will do us a world of good in the hunt for promotion.

Straight down the middle that for me, but we're all professionals from the sidelines.

Monday's game just got bigger than it already was.
