Anyone asked Darren Moore if he fits in his long term plans? 34 in October, a chunk in the budget.

Have to be open to short termism too.

A few goals here and there could ensure stability and safety thus ensuring we move forward as a more credible force.

I can't see it personally but if there's any remote truth in it we'd be mad to look at his age as a barrier to signing him.

Rumours are it’s a done deal turned Wrexham down work with DM

Hope it’s true

And where are these rumours?

Has anyone asked Notts Forest if Chris Wood fits into their long term plans? also 34 in December

Did 35/36 year old David McGoldrick fit into Notts County’s long term plans when he scored 17 goals last season and 12 the season before for them?

And he's just signed for Barnsley.

Obviously depends on DMs confidence in his squad, but up to now 26/27 seems to be his limit for outfield players, not that I would turn a bit of insurance down. Hopefully we wont lose any players either.

Smith would be a ridiculously good signing. Probably make us top half candidates. He'd surely want 10k per week though....although we did pay a lot out on transfer fees last season that we haven't this.

Smith if rotated could easily have another 3 or 4 years left yet so he isn't on his last legs but i really would be amazed if we signed him above those rumoured to be interested in him

Despite your suggestion otherwise at close the 34 it's unlikely that Smith has 3 or 4 years left. There are exceptions but few players extend their careers beyond 34. The exceptions very much prove the rule. The latest TV deal is very lucrative.  I suspect all the Wednesday 6 are looking for a significant pay lift; in many cases to see them into retirement.  He may have 3 or 4 years left; more likely it's somewhat less. It's not just games played but the workload in training to ensure a player is ready to play games that leads to physical deterioration.

Whilst everyone is arguing about best header of the ball. Let's not forget Sammy Morgan. Could get up there and deliver a bullet of a header. Also hard as nails. I once saw him in a pre season training match against Stoke at the then Lilleshall training ground (now Castle Town ground). He stuck Dennis Smith on the ground, then stood over him and told him what he thought of him. Smith stayed down until Sammy walked away. No other Stoke player tried to intervene.

Sammy was brilliant in the air, at corners and free kicks he seemed to jump before the kick was taken and wait for the ball to arrive

Exactly.  Halving his game load doesn’t double his shelf life
