Summer transfer rumours and speculation

There are a few league one clubs chasing Brighton forward Caylan Vickers on loan but also a couple of Championship clubs weighing up a  permanent move for him

I can imagine how some would react if we signed him here with his stats,it just shows how scouts and clubs staff see players differently than just looking at a players current stats

Micheal Smith would be an unreal signing but if we are spending the type of wages he is reportedly on , I would prefer us to be investing that money in a CB.

I dont think signing any big money player would affect other transfers tbh MBE,I still think a CB and a keeper will come in along with another forward no matter who they are

We would be very lucky to sign a player like Michael Smith.

If the unthinkable does happen, then in Big D and Carol I trust in why they signed him

Also to add to that BJ(that line sounds so wrong 😮 )

IF and it's a massive IF we were even in the race for him we know it would only be for the right money,we are a well run club now and i cant see Carol or DM for that matter risking anything here

A large part of their progress has been by developing and selling on players, far more clubs have lost out in splashing out. Steady progress within a plan is our only way.

That is certainly how we want to progress and it's not just the selling of players it's the potential sell ons as well,as we are starting to see, considering the current saleable assets we have and those being looked at in our Academy's of all age groups we surely must have one of the best if not the best Academy's in the lower leagues and parents will see that when looking at Academy's to send their children to.

I remember 2 or 3 years ago Carol came out and said after a board meeting(although that did include DF at the time) it was agreed by all that any transfer fees that come into the club the majority would be reinvested into the playing budget(i guess that might include the Academy as well). I have no reason to think any of this has changed

Brentford and Bournemouth are in the Premier League almost solely down to the fact that they have billionaire owners. Wrexham going a similar way. I don't like it, but these sides would be nowhere near the top leagues without being bankrolled.

They also invest well in players like Brighton also do and then sell them on for big profits,I think there are many on here like me who remember the days when they were plying their trade in Division 4(League 2) with us

And we are more likely to get better deals if we can get clear pathways for players into the first team as well. Plus there is the added incentive that keeping players for longer can help us progress faster on the pitch too.

Selling academy products on with sell on fees all well and good, but they are a pittance compared to the deals that sell on the likes of a Dipepa, Hugill etc. To really benefit from the academy deals with the solidarity payment you need to keep the players for as long as possible.

Unfortunately some can end up going too early even when they progress, I do wonder how much more we would have gotten for McDermott had he stayed rather than going Burnley (where he's now left).

Hell, imagine if all these youth players were in the Vale side now, wonder where we'd likely be in the pyramid. (One can dream).

McDermott is still at Burnley(weird situation i know),it seems he left there, went on trial with Dundee where he scored in his first friendly for them and on that day Burnley triggered a contract extension for him

Luton sign goalkeeper Josh Keeley for £1million

I believe the trial at Dundee was with a view to a loan; not a permanent transfer. Burnley then decided he may be in their first-team plans, so cut it short. A loan may still happen once the season starts.

We've also two games to look forward to with Simkin lying on the ground time wasting for 60 minutes a game.

Lard have loaned him to Leyton Orient.

A few weeks now no news only Ojo apparently had talks with Tranmere but couldnt agree a fee with them or terms .

2 weeks till kick off lots of teams are strengthening i see Wycombe had a 7 million offer alledgedly for Kone .

Lutons going be so strong bought a goalie for 1 million

Josh Bowler is on the move the exciting player he is off somewhere. .

David Mcgoldrick gone to Barnsley and Luke Bolton gone too Mansfield .

Ive no idea what Vale need, until i see them in action in a proper game .

We conceded 2 v a pfa team however some of them players we played against are from higher league football so to score 3 is excellent ..

Hope all playets get a club ,and there demands are not all too money based ,as life is short and money is evil .

Vale need to come up with a similiar version of song to the jota one to be honest ,when fans are singing constantly ,a feel good song it doesnt half make a football match enjoyable, no matter whats happening on pitch ,the jota song (R.I.P)was absolutely tremendous at 2 times v Preston for 20 mins both times on TV.

Tolaj is the player we could use for the lyrics ..

I think I was making more of a point that how mad this league is that teams are spending a million pounds on a goalkeeper.

Thats what we are up against. Even more so when we were last in this league only 2 years ago
