Regard the Smith rumours, in the unlikely event it happens I’d be as surprised as I was when Bristol Rovers signed Chris Martin - surprised then because, no offence to Rovers, I thought he was too good for L1 mid-table (ended up with 16 goals in just over 30 games as a 35 year old). It would be an amazing bit of persuasion if DM and Carol et al could pull it off since I’d assume he’d want to play every game and having the big Toe and posh Stocks wanting the same,  there’s potential for a bit of a ‘trilemma’ (though a very nice one to have).

We must have money coming in from the transfers to Prem clubs(Lawrie/Tommy Mac/one to Newcastle/one to Man City)

Plus I'm sure Carol can help Moore out of her wants Smith

Micheal Smith would be an unreal signing but if we are spending the type of wages he is reportedly on , I would prefer us to be investing that money in a CB.

Don’t forget, that’s still more than £500k a year in wages. I can’t see that at 33/34 he’s really what we need, being honest. I thought he looked a handful against us at Hillsborough but that was, what, 2 years or so ago? But not seen enough of him to make a proper judgement.

I personally wouldn't want us spending that on any player at our level with our income. Just not viable and I don't want Carol to bankroll us like that

I agree but most other clubs are being bankrolled at our level and above. If we want to progress, unfortunately this is the way it's going. I don't like it, but until the rules are changed, we have to keep up with others, otherwise we'll just drop back down like a stone. Bournemouth and Brentford aren't in the Premier League on the strength of their crowds.

Blackpool signed Birmingham keeper Peacock-Farrel? On season long loan. Villa keeper now has one less team taking interest.
