Summer transfer rumours and speculation

I would suspect Clarke-Harris wont be short of suitors and I dare say would want:

A) A guarantee of a starting place if he's fit.

B) A lot of cash.

Neither I think is reasonable for a striker who has left his last two clubs under a cloud, and is the wrong side of thirty to justify the wage he's likely looking for.

Contrast his attitude with Stockley and I know who I would rather have.

He'll probably go abroad for a fat pay cheque or somewhere down South in League Two.

My preferred suggestion made on this thread for a striker to sign is Macauley Langstaff but he's somewhere on a scale of unlikely to unrealistic.....but you ever know.

I get that Vale currently have strikers who could/can score goals in Lge 1 but the 'Goal shy striker' scenario of the last relegation season still haunts hence the signing of a striker with a goal scoring record would go along way to easing those fears.

JCH scores goals if Vale can afford him shows ambitious they are .

Personally feel he is the right fit for us and with  the most excellent energy, we have around him in Stockley ,Tolaj ,and Paton,Curtis and Waine well we have all types of different personnel then to score and assist all types of goals .

Like i say if Vale interested in him they may not be id be but im not paying his wages snd i do not intend too

How does CS feel about our 3rd stint in league 1 .

After all the calibre of shirt (top notch)deserves the best  calibre of players wearing it .....

If JCH, turns up at Vale and is signed and is announced id be delighted personally it shows real ambition .

What are Vale ambitions

Are they too survive

Play offs

Mid table good edge of the seat attacking every game to win .

Be very interesting as in league 2, teams miss chances and you can win playing badly ,league 1 teams do not miss chances ,as regularly and you be lucky win playing badly ..

Crowd needs up there levels aswell, always batters me head at end of games the noise level is significant as folk sing Darren Moores Black and Whire but during game the same folk are quiet

Very odd behaviour

I have to say, and each to their own, but it baffles me why so many are writing Croesdale off before the lad has even kicked a ball in league one
he won pretty much every player of the year trophy available last season, and for me undoubtably deserves a chance to step up a division (just as every other player does) - I just hope he doesnt become the new sacrificial lamb with everyone jumping down his throat if he puts a foot wrong - lets all look forward to this season, we are a million miles away from the farce that went up 3 years ago [emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji171][emoji171][emoji171][emoji171]
This. Some fans seem to think that L1 needs every player to be all singing, all dancing. Croasdale does an excellent job at what he's best at. It's then on Byers and the other flair players to do theirs. Every team needs a Croasdale, Pett, Griff, Porter. The job they do and it's importance to how the whole team operates is so often misunderstood

Despite being player of the season when we stayed up in division one.

Player of the Season curse it seems. Win that and fans are scheming to replace you! I think Croasdale will start most games next season.

Leader

Garrity maybe, but what about the others who share the same relegated and promoted stat?  Tom Sang, leader?  The point is you can have decent players who end up in relegated teams, and that team could’ve been relegated due to a number of factors.

Not many are writing him off, just one or two, er, “characters.  Life’s rich tapestry….

Agreed, and am surprised by the dissenting voices myself. He was immense last season and every team needs an absolute b*****d that never stops. I think he has much more to his game than that, but how many times have we heard from ex players 'my job was to work hard and give the ball to *insert quality players name here*?

The midfield has to be able to mix it up and I didn't see anyone last season as good as Croasdale at dong the basics in his position.

Moore clearly thinks Humphreys is an upgrade on Smith; time will tell.

I had forgotten about him.

Out of the signings so far he is probably the only you would say is a defo starter.

People can't think for themselves.

They see that Stockport went up to L1 and discarded him, so have come to the conclusion that he isn't L1 quality.

So the Vale are not capable of making their own decisions?

You do know players get older and not necessarily better every season?

If he was good enough why is it Tranmere he's ended up?

I believe Stockport used him as purely a holding midfield player.  They replaced him with Nick Powell during their promotion season who is a completely different type of player,  more focused on distribution. I can see why they didn't want him with how they seemed to set up. He wasn't as important to Stockport's promotion,  I think he started just over half the games.

We've mainly used him as a box to box player and he's done it well. He actually scored more goals than Ben Garrity from open play. Personally I think he'll do okay. Walters or Byers will probably play in the middle of the 3, both are technically better than him. As you say he does have a great engine and he'll cover the whole pitch. Maybe Moore deserves a bit of credit for giving him a slightly freer role. Prior to his time at Stockport Croasdale was quite a regular scorer at National League level.
