Summer transfer rumours and speculation

I think we are at the point where we are waiting for other deals to be completed to free up our targets.  Patience is needed.

Did he start his career with them down the road?

He could be in quarantine.

Brilliant read. It felt like his dip in form came at the same time as Rotherham’s downfall, and a change of scenery was probably just what he needed. There’s no better bloke than Moore to get him back to his best.

Last few paragraphs (copied below) summarise his time. For me this signing brings back memories of our bringing in Dean Glover - hopefully we get a similar outcome to that one.

‘On the basis that class is permanent and form temporary, Humphreys has plenty of time to come again.

He wore the shirt 113 times, sublime at his best, sub-par at his worst.

My last words to him were in the Roundwood car-park just before the end of last season. “Get that contract signed, Cam,” I said and was greeted by that familiar falsetto peel.

Yet, on reflection, it was probably the right time for a fresh challenge. Rotherham's offer was “a good one”, said Hamshaw, but the player saw his future elsewhere.

Vale are a club on the up and seeking to build on last term's League Two promotion.

If they get the Humphreys of 2022/23, well, they'll be laughing.’

So of the three regulars released Smith/Chislett/Sang the replacements are upgrades Humphreys/Rico/Gabriel.

Also Gabriel/Humphreys/Gordon/Rico all add pace to the team for the step up to league 1.

Anyway so far and with the possibility of signing Marko Marosi then the first team 25 man squad of senior players (excluding the U21 players Plant/Shorrock/Lomax/Walters) is just maybe another centre back and number nine short of complete (plus a couple of loans).

GK Amos/Marosi

RWB Clarke/John

RCB Gabriel/Deborah

CB Humphreys/Heneghan

LCB Hall/Gordon

LWB Headley/Hart

CM Garrity/Byers/Croasdale/Shipley/Rico

ST Stockley/Curtis/Tolaj/Paton

So that is a squad of 21 senior players so far which leaves up to 4 more possible signings possible two more permanent at centre back and number 9( plus a couple of loans).

Looking strong for league 1 with plenty of league 1 and some Championship experience good height and certainly a lift in mobility/athleticism/pace for the level.

Omg, you're back!

Interesting article by ntt20 today on loans

Bit that stood out was that we have loaned more pl2 players than any other club.

We loan so many because we are so hopeless at picking them. There's been a few successes (Alfie, Arblaster, Rico, Cover (?)) but by in large the rest have been absolute rubbish and get sent back in Jan to be replaced by more rubbish

Haven't been on here since he signed, but Humphreys looks a great pick up. Exactly what I was talking about when Marosi was linked, we need to replace key positions with strong L1 players. Humphreys more than fits that bill. Let's hope the goalie we do bring in does the same.

I'm so buzzing about Humphreys. We haven't had a good ball player at CB since Deano, who was the best in my lifetime.

As with all the lads we seem to sign these days, he seems like a good bloke too. It's a really likeable group of players at the moment.

Looking at the squad in terms of old heads in and around the match day squad and on the training ground then there are a fair few over 30 with bags of experience with the likes of Amos/Hall/Heneghan/Ojo/Stockley and also senior players like  Garrity/Croasdale/Gordon/Byers/Shipley/Curtis...also as mentioned above it is a solid likeable group of players with a strong work ethic/sound basics/good know how...it bodes well for a well prepared assault on league 1.

Has anyone heard anything about the lad man City took off us? I seem to remember he went to Forest with a view to a £4M transfer.   Was hoping the sell on clause would release funds this window?

Have I missed owt?

Cheers

Joel Ndala.

Went on loan to Forest from City in Feb, with an option to buy.

No idea if that option was exercised.

I understand why you would leave Port Vale for Man City as a 10 year old...

But, if he'd have stayed at Vale, he'd have probably had 30+ EFL appearances under his name by now and have a host of clubs vying for his signature.

Clubs like Man City, PSV, and Notts Forest?

Fair point.

But Man City U21, PSV B and Forest U21.

He's 19 and he's played 3 senior games (in the EFL Cup).

This transfer rumours site is very quiet about the speculation that Jack Shorrock MIGHT be going to Derby for £2,000,000 . He obviously put himself in the shop window by scoring that  super goal against Crewe on Sky television .What amazes me is the lack of an explosion on this site .

Enjoyed listening to Jordan Gabriel on Radio Stoke tonight. Hour long interview where he talked about why he signed and the competition that we beat to get him. Link below if anyone is interested.

This was great. Another player who seemed very put together in how he expressed himself.

Interesting that our main competition for him were Lincoln, Mansfield, Northampton. Sounded like the Darren Moore personal touch was an important part of beating competition.
