I would look at signing that Peno if we can

Not necessarily I would agree but the odds wouldn’t be good.

Going up even one step is difficult enough. Take McCauley Langstaff, record holding scorer in L1 and L2 but now out of favour at Millwall where it looks as if he can’t cut it. Just too much for him.

BTW, who wouldn’t want us to try and get him, perhaps on loan. I really hope we get another decent striker in because the lack of goals is what cost us last time in L1. C’mon, Vale, you know it makes sense.

IMHO Langstaff would be a fantastic shout for Vale either as a loan or a permanent move depending on price, another poster also suggested Langstaff.  Don't know whether his dearth of goal scoring last season was due to style of play, being a step up too far, being a tad homesick or whatever but if Millwall have any inclination to let him explore pastures new I hope Vale are in there with a more than competitive bid.

Failure to score goals is one reason why teams struggle in the lower reaches of a league so having another goal scorer who can convert a few draws into wins or a few loses into draws  during a game can make all the difference.

Bradford sign Will Swan.

Case in point, we signed Diamond Edwards following a trial and he was shocking.

But how many games did he play?

I mentioned him the other day as maybe a loan option but should we end up selling Tolaj or just coming into money from another sale or sell on then I would like us to target someone proven to buy like him

I think if Tolaj starts the season on fire then we could possibly lose him in January(although we aren't desperate to cash in so would need to be close to a record fee if not a record fee imo) but then we would have to put in some good bids ourselves for players to replace him

Not a case of cutting costs according to DM’s interview where it was implied that they were being a bit more selective in looking at trialists, focusing on areas where we are short on numbers.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if Amos has been told he's welcome to stay but isn't guaranteed games, and pops up somewhere in League 2 after leaving with the club's best wishes and a 'thanks for everything, Amos!' tweet.

That would mean Foster in as backup and Marosi or another keeper as #1.

I’d be amazed if any of those players played tomorrow. Surely they won’t? Will they?

They all played bar Hall👍🏻

I would be surprised, but then again nothing surprises me in football

He was one of 4 players the manager said in his interview he didn't want to risk in this game and they were training as a group during the morning. If you want a conspiracy theory Sam Hart hasn't been name checked by the manager in either of his interviews. He also didn't appear in either friendly and I haven't seen him in any of the photos released by the club.

Moore seems a pretty straightforward kind of guy. If he says something it's generally true. When he doesn't discuss something it often means something.

We will still be making a loss this coming season even with those extra tickets and shirt sales. Carol will still have to subsidise the club to keep us afloat. I still expect she will release some cash for the right player though.

There was an article in The Valient about the recruitment budget. It's agreed with Moore who then has the freedom to spend it. Apparently he's trusted because he isn't a manager who constantly asks for Moore. You are right an extra 1000 shirts at 40 quid isn't generating the salary of an average league 1 player.

Moore must closing in on what was agreed in May. It's pretty clear he wants a keep and a striker. If he lands one cheaply it will free up funds for the other. I suspect there is a tradeoff between the two.

I can’t see Sam Hart getting another game in a Vale shirt. Headley and Gordon are our LWBs going into next season.

I have just read The Valient and was going to update my post. Moore told Baggaley he hoped Hart would be fit by Monday.

Certainly at left wingback he's probably now 4th choice. Moore may see him a cover for Hall. Whether he wants to spend a season that far down the order is debatable. If he'd been fit it would have been interesting to have seen where Moore played him.

I fully expect a permanent keeper signing this week before they head to their Wales camp, hopefully we will see a striker as well
