Well said, I totally agree with your comments.

Thanks for your support, but it's so frustrating at the moment!

20250325_192351.thumb.jpg.667655effa3ae5da864b5861d82f01d2.jpgI have just about calmed down enough to share a pic from last night with one of my early Vale hero's (he is on the left). 175 games and 18 goals....

Who can name him?

The better team in the first half had a deserved lead and then we had 45 minutes to turn it around against a team with a one goal head start who were happy to sit back.

"The better team in the first half had a deserved lead ..." - this is true.

Then during those second 45 minutes, we hit the woodwork four times and had a nailed-on penalty turned down.

Meaning we were much the better team in the second half and deserved at the very least a draw from the match.

But, of course, you cannot notice those facts since they rebut your negative agenda.

A few games ago, the permacritics were on Darren's case because we were drawing too many games, and that isn't good enough for promotion.

Their view was that we should go for more wins, even if that meant losing rather than drawing some of the matches.

In our last 3 games, we have Won 2 and Lost 1, i.e. we have done exactly what the critics said they wanted.

That's an average of 2 points per game over those 3 games.

If we can continue to average 2 points per game over our remaining 8 games, we will finish on 80 points and almost certainly gain automatic promotion.

Could you please hold fire on your endless criticism until the season is completed, and we actually know what has and hasn't been achieved?

If we have then failed to gain promotion, let rip with your criticisms.

Until then, let's get behind the management and the players and give them our wholehearted support.

This season still has every prospect of turning into a promotion celebration, and we all have our part to play in helping that to happen.

No idea who he is but with that look on his face it must have been pre match.

Is it Chris Birchall?

Well sticking isn't exactly cutting it is it? So, IMO he'll be daft if he doesn't alter his timid approach!

But Darren's set the team up like that all season , I just conner see him changing his mindset for these next games but to be fair there's nowt wrong in being optimistic

I haven't read this thread yet from when i left to go the game because i didn't want to depress myself further

As many will know i am a staunch backer of Moore but when things are <ovf censored> i will say they are <ovf censored>,i cant for one minute defend him from last nights result, that starting line up lost us the game and that is totally on the manager.

For the life of me if players are fit i have no idea why you wouldn't play your best team in a game where you could end up 3 points clear in the top 3 and 3 points off the top, please dont tell me players cant play 180 minutes football a week,I know they train but come on.......... PLAY YOUR BEST starting 11 it's that simple

Now there are 3 massive games now(one of which is Tuesday, when as we know we just dont win at home),lets see where we are in the league after those 3 because if it's not favourable then questions i am certain will start to be asked,if i was Carol though i would be asking DM why he didn't start his best team last night.

Lastly just 2 things please dont let Harper pull on a Vale shirt again(I dont like singling players out but wow not once has he impressed, ever likely Burton wanted keep a young lad with more potential according to them before him).... oh and not sure who decides these things but Carol can we play midweek games on a Wednesday next season. That is all

Oh and just to add those who were/are saying Moore has to go and yet can never come up with a replacement,If Moore was to leave I would be straight on the phone to Barrow to poach Andy Whing who at 40 has a lot of potential going forward as a manager in the EFL and that's coming off someone in League and National League football

In fairness to Moore, on paper the team he started with still looked capable of beating Barrow. Some of those coming in for a start let him down badly, none more so than Harper, who treated the game as if it was a kick around in the park. Terrible attitude, and I'll be glad to see the back of him at the end of the season. Some of the more dependable players also had stinkers in the first half. We were all crying out for changes and, for once, Darren didn't waste any time in replacing players.

Second half we genuinely played well and would have scored 2 or 3 on any other day. It doesn't make the first half acceptable, or any less frustrating. But if we play like that for the whole game against Crewe we will coming away with something.

The issue with the first half team was we got over run with 2 in the middle, they did us there but it was obvious early enough to maybe tweak it, even if it meant say moving Curtis in there or pushing Sang in there and Debs RB something like that, we just looked miles off it as well.

We made a balls up in January in the striker department in hindsight, we should of either kept Paton as an experienced striker rather than sign Jerry or signed a more experienced head if sending Paton out, having only two actual senior strikers and two kids as back up, one of whom hasn't looked quite ready for men's football is a disaster really, especially when Stockley has had a couple of periods out.

The other recruitment balls up is for all the cash we splashed we didn't sign a ball playing center half, sat in the Hamil last night it was often like watching tennis swinging your head side to side watching the ball go from Debrah - Smith - Hall and back again.
