Good post Granville .

Why are  folk snakes if are concerned about losing .

We had 0 attempts on target yesterday .

Did you really enjoy that game .

Another Mr confused

Why we playing with 7 defensively minded players .

Answer thst one .

It's league 2 not premiership

Put more attacking players make it a enjoyable watch as folk who spent say 100 plus yesterday will surely not be happy with what they saw.

Overall everyone's happy Mr Confused .

Do not have a pop at folk who love the Vale .

The whole point of a forum is debate .

What can we do better .

Where was yesterday's game lost .

Etc etc etc .

Where's your post .

It's reaction to the action .

I'd always give my post a 8.5 what I expect from every playing member of a top of the league team gamely .

Regardless of yesterday Moore has got more right than wrong this season .

Hackford coming on for stockley was bizarre ,as soon as sent Henegan up he won a ball chislett or tolaj between them should have converted .

It seemed like Chislett got in Tolajs way .

Onto Tues BJ let's have some input from you and let's mark your posts. .

I'd say for that reply your a 0.1 at best poor effort fella .

Because we're not going to be great every week, we're a league two side and will have off days! Football isn't this "let's go for it" game it used to be even at this level. There are tactics involved and if you don't adapt you get beaten because players are inconsistent at taking on information and in their performance.

Players who are better at that are higher up the pyramid and even if we could afford them why would they come to a league two club?

We will get better, we will improve, we have to accept defeats without coming out with ridiculous overreaction.

I do like your enthusiasm and posts, but you are just as guilty when it comes to that. We are not a bad side and havent transformed into one on the basis of a defeat to a team in a higher division in the cup and to a team who are in a false league position who were better on the day than we were. That said, my comment was more aimed towards those who are quiet when we win but only come out of the woodwork when we lose. You post every week win, lose or draw so that isn't directed at you.

Those same people who will criticise the manager, and players, for one bad performance out of 11, will then be at the front of the queue for the open top bus when we go up. It's the hypocritical nature of it that annoys me.

OK Granville thats very true .

Your knowledge of football is immense .

I agree that folk over react I haven't overall it was a dull performance where all outfield players from both sides contributed to a dour affair, did we deserve lose No way not a chance .

I agree win lose or draw I'll have my say because I care that's why .

Not as much as the 523 who went though

Walsall and Crewe to come at home ,exciting games hopefully where the roof will come off the place .

We all Vale m8 and folk shouldn't take posts personally ,I'm one of 7000 folk who will have a say on a game in some way or other .

We all see games differently thsts the beauty of it ,we all rate different players  and not others .

We all want to enjoy Port Vales efforts weekly .

Defensively overall yesterday we were excellent ,need to improve the attacking play though as goals win games do you not agree

Having seen the highlights back that penalty decision is a shocker, the keeper takes him out with both hands and if he doesn’t Ronan has an empty net. Terrible.

That said Stockley missed a chance that was easier to score than miss and you’d put your house on him scoring so he does that we probably park the bus see out a 1-0 and we would be talking about a great away masterclass again so it’s fine margins. We’ve been on the right side a few times and this time we fell the wrong side.

Agree with you about the penalty and Stockley should have scored but that chance was more difficult than it looks.

The ball came across to Stockley bouncing and at pace, he was in line..ish with the near goal post and their goalie was at the near post so Stockley couldn't put the ball "Back in the direction from where it came", he had to open his body and his right foot, if his right foot had have been a degree or two more closed the ball goes in. Probably been better to use his left foot but I think Stockley is mainly right footed.

What hasn't had much talk is the chance at the end when Croasdale and Shorrock got in each others way, Croasdale has a free shot on goal if Shorrock gets out of the way but I guess that's football.

I don't know if this has been mentioned on this thread or not. I saw something is today sun newspaper, so it's got be true, Gillingham haven't conceded a penalty in 60 league games. If there not giving that one yesterday then i can see that figure getting to 100.

watched the pen over a few times  cant make me mind up bout it

Just watched the highlights.  Anyone know the laws with the multi-ball system about which ball has to be used when one goes out of play? Folks have commented on the potential foul on Grant in the build-up to the goal, but after ‘the foul’ their number 4 then follows the ball out of play doesn’t pick it up (when it’s actually at his feet) and their number 7 then picks a ‘multi-ball’ off a tee/cone further back and throws that to the number 4 who’s re-entered the field of play behind the defence and crosses for the goal.  Just wondering if that’s a more clear cut referee mistake (rather than not giving the foul on Grant) where a ref should pull back play for either the original ball to be used or for them to take the throw from where it actually went out. Thought the extra balls were meant to reduce time wasting/save time when a ball is kicked into the stands etc and not to give teams an unfair advantage.

A few random ramblings about yesterday. Although we lost I enjoyed it as a proper away day.

The designated away pub Fluer de Lit was really welcoming and I'd use it again.

Did anyone else notice the chap on the PA announce the crowd as including the 500 + from " the town that  doesnt even exist". Talk about pot, kettle, black. Nothing against the good people of Gillingham but it isn't UNESCO world heritage level. No doubt he'll be on an open mic at Edinburgh fringe with that wit.

Finally asked at the refreshment hut for a cheese or veg pie.  They looked at me weird and said no. Just walking away when they said we have a veg pasty! Missing the upsell somewhere.  9 out of 10 for the pasty , good solid pastry!

Next away day for me "Nam" .

Stockley should have buried that chance.

It wasn't very clear but I think on balance it was a Pen.

Anyway, that's not the issue, we weren't good enough overall, so we didn't win... Can and should do better. In my humble opinion, I think our selection and substitutions was sub par on this occasion, which is disappointing as it's been a strength so far. Hopefully the great man will have a return to form for our next match.

I know game stats (BBC) alone don’t actually reflect a game but in this case they did. At the game both teams couldn’t string more than 2 or 3 passes together before launching the ball into the channels (and even then not accurately!) , no one was prepared to put their foot on the ball and there were very few successful dribbles.  Both teams employing a low block and neither team having players prepared to, on enough occasions, to take risks and try and beat the player in front of them with pace and/or skill (we know we have players who played who can do that) all meant a low quality game from the off , compounded further by inconsistent (and incorrect) refereeing/assistant decisions.

I never think teams play for a draw but felt both teams played not to lose on Saturday - just 4 corners and < 10 shots in total with really only 2 clear cut scoring opportunities, they took theirs and ours was the Stockley chance.

DM talked about, post match, what a difficult place it is to play football (in terms of the place rather than the opposition) which was a little disappointing since he’s shown in previous fixtures how he can adapt our tactics between games to suit the opposition and their pitch - perhaps this time we didn’t have the personnel available to implement them (Ben Garrity etc).  Not too concerned, though would have been good not having the ‘waste of time cup’ Tuesday night for him to have a full week to work on tactics for the challenges Morecambe will present.
