Port Vale v Wimbledon match thread - 26th Oct

Featured Replies

As fantastic as things are now, we have to accept that there will be bumps in the road along the way. The good news is that we seem to have a squad and personnel within the squad that will not buckle after a couple of adverse performances and results. As the age old saying goes, it's a marathon not a sprint.

Having said that, I won't object if the go the rest of the season unbeaten and storm the championship by twenty points. Let's have the first three towards it on Saturday.

Our home form whilst not awful is only middling. Need to get a good run going at home.

One thing I was surprised at was Chesterfield drawing 6 of their 7 homes.

IF Wimbledon had played and won their three games in hand they'd top the table this morning. Tough game, a point won't be a disaster.....

Its a fair point but is a rarity... remember last season IF we win our games in hand that kept cropping up... didn't do us much good.

I think not losing this is important, we have a two week league break so dont want to be going into that with a bubble burst feeling as we know our fans will over react to a defeat and it then puts big pressure to go Gillingham and get something to avoid sliding down, a draw isn't the end of the world keeps us second but same points as top at worst but a win keeps the buzz for the next fortnight and we can go to Gillingham buzzing and then have 2-3 winnable games after that to nail it home. Opening a gap to fourth thats a good size could be a big boost at this stage.

We need to get this match marketed and advertised really well. Get it in peoples faces over all platforms. Target 8k home fans.

I'd go

    Ripley

Sang Debrah Hall

BBB Croasdale Garrity  Grant

                  Richards (chislett).

         Paton Stockley

I'd like hear they have played Paton with Stockley and u would think Richards or Chislett as the 10 I wouldn't object to Richards I think he can put Paton through on goal .

I'd keep Grant in personally .

So thsts my side but regardless whos chosen there's goals galore in us .

I agree mate with what you say but if people aren't coming when we're top of the league and on a nice unbeaten run when exactly will they come.

Any doubters should get their butt down on Saturday.

I've not seen a lot from Chesterfield yet to justify that favourites tag as you say they draw too many at home, they'll be in the playoff picture undoubtedly as they've walloped a couple of sides away when they've been on it, but they certainly didn't look title material to me when we played them at home.

Mmm. Only two defenders, that's certainly adventurous. And BBB at wing back - not sure he could tackle a fence post  never mind an actual person...

Tongue in cheek of course.  Moore is full of surprises.🫣

I love your optimism but playing BBB as a wing back is absolute suicide. If Sang is at centre back then Cover has to play at RWB

Ripley

Cover Sang Debrah Hall Shorrock

Croasdale Garrity

Paton Stockley Curtis

I think the gaffer will start with Rico on Saturday myself after his last home performance. Whoever he selects we have a great squad with competition for places galore. It’s great to see.. roll on Wimbledon ️

At the last home game after the first 30 minutes I turned to my mate and said why have we stopped giving Rico the ball ! One nil ! Get in Rico!

With DM selection roulette anything is possible.

I was keeping Paton and Curtis in after good performances on Tuesday but as we know that's irrelevant. I feel Shorrock for his energy although Grant had a belting game too .

DM the man to trust.

My team would be the same 11 bar Sang & Shorrock. I’d go with a back 4 with Croasdale holding allowing Ben to push up a bit & bring Rico into the mix. Looking forward to Saturday now! UTV

Grant was flattered as he had virtually no defending to do. I wouldn't trust him over Shorrock against a better side.
