Last season, when the rumours of the nil paid shares were coming out, I don't recall anyone actually naming the source of these rumours? However, it was proven to be correct then the fact the rumors were spread in the 1st instance was surely a good thing as it brought about awareness and concern over a very important issue.

 

I've not sadi that any rumour is correct or incorrect..I've simply said if you want to make them credible quote the source and if you can't then I can't treat them with any more credibility than any other rumour..so I think it's best to say nothing

 

Surely you can understand why people won't name names. They would cease to become sources of information. In your world we would never have any corperate whilstleblowers as who would want to risk putting their repercussions if there name was outed in the initial instance?

 

Did IQs drop whilst I was away..I already said that I understand why people cannot name names but I don't get why they post then if they cannot as there post will lack credibility regarding the source if they cannot name names..it's just a rumour like any other

 

What as OVF got to do with corporate whistleblowers? A very poor analogy for me

 

Such people tend not to come on MBs and describe what they are saying, they go to journalists or people in their organisation and don't spread rumours as such, they tend to know what is going on and they are the source

I can't see this being true. I don't see why he would be holding out over 1 month's pay. Our wage bill can't be that high. Why lose out on owning a team for the sake of a few grand that a decent home cup tie could bring in?

 

Exactly, Ryder could probably find a months wages down the back of his sofa? Vale isn't even the biggest project he's even undertaken, think this whole delaying tactic so he doesn't have to pay is a load of bull, personally.

You don't know whether what I have heard is unsubstantiated, and neither do I until either the deal dies or it goes through. As I say I hope it goes through.

 

So I can't gicve it any credibility..it's just a rumour with nothing to substabntiate it..so why post it?

 

I repeat; this is a site about Port Vale where fans discuss Port Vale related subjects. Some of this conversation could be a transfer rumour - not all of what everyone posts is dead true. I would rather tell you all what I've heard as some people would rather know whether it's good news or not.

 

But they have no idea whether it's good news or not as you cannot substantiate it nor give a credible source

 

Maybe I was wrong to post with not wanting to reveal my source but the said person did say that they don't know that the deal was 100% off so it may well go through but what I have heard doesn't sound good at all.

 

And? I don't get why you post it then..it vould be true, could be b******s, could be partly true..why post it?

 

Mate of mine Neil McCarthy reckon he's heard that Vale are going under at end of the month. Mind you he's a SPurs fan who only knows what I tell him about Vale so he has no credibility as a source of info..if anyone says they have a source but won't tell us the source what's the point of saying that you have a source

 

People are getting very very wound up by these rumours..this about the future of the club not a transfer

The Sentinel are hopeless. Do they realise it isn't the 1950s anymore? You can stick a sign on the street with a tempting headline expecting folks to buy a paper tomorrow. They should share whatever information they have now on their website. After all they do get advertising revenue from the web. I despair....
