Summer transfer rumours and speculation

I don't get this Ojo has a bad attitude stuff. I watched virtually every game last year and I saw an Ojo doing and trying his best on the pitch, playing when not 100% fit and flying into tackles to keep Vale in Lge 1.

Unless he wanted away I'm surprised he's gone on a 1 yr loan but given his age and length of contract it's understandable. Presumably Vale can always recall him after 6 months if needs be.

Always gonna be difficult for Ojo after the Croasdale and Byers signings and with Garrity & Sang and others able to play center midfield.

Hope Rico Richards does his stuff, already it looks like we could do with some extra creativity in the middle of the Park.

Vale's twitter has gone very quiet 🧐

But we don't play 2 midfielder, we have played three for nearly 3 years. A "6" a "8" and a "10".

Everything I've read about Byers is he's an 8, box to box controlling play. You could shoe horn him into defensive mid and lose any creativity he'd bring, or you could just have decent cover like we did have until an hour ago.

The point is, if we're gonna go with the same formation for the rest of the season, we've only got Croasdale who we can hang out hat on at defensive mid. After that, it's a kid who's never played league football, lowe and grant.

We’ve only played with 2 so far… maybe we do something different when Byers is fit? It’s good puzzle for DM to solve give the number of forward players.

I think Garrity can do the Croasdale role very well as backup.

Ojo..a poor man's Andreas Lipa. Won't be missed

Arblaster carried him last season till January. Look how we(and Ojo) did after that

With the players we have I’d like to see a 3-5-1-1 formation with one of the five being a holding, defensive midfielder, this formation give us the flexibility to change to a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 very easily. Hence why I’m disappointed that Ojo is going as the defensive holding role would be perfect for him.

Nowhere to hide for DM now, if promotion or play offs not achieved. He’s been well supported by the club.

COYW.

The squad seems a bit top-heavy. Over to the gaffer, he's definitely been backed. Anything other than promotion is a failure for Mr Moore.

Arblaster and Ojo were a perfect pair, both benefited off each other. Ojo was very good the season before when fit.

His role is a holding midfielder, and he is very good at it, at Portsmouth away a couple of seasons ago he had one of the best performances by any Vale player over the last 2 seasons. Croasdale was very good against Tranmere but equally as bad against Barrow, what exactly importance has he done over the 3 games? Load of rubbish, that statement but anyway he is a very different type of player.

Is he good at it? He's been part of a midfield that has consistently struggled over 2 seasons. Other than that one game, I can't really identify many more where he has dictated the game from deep, can you? I agree, he's very different to Croasdale but he's a player that Vale fans often recognise as good because he 'looks' the part. They did it with Dan Jones because he played the odd 60 yard crossfield ball.

I have friends who are Vale fans who will often just remember one incident in isolation, good or bad, and judge the performance of the player on that. I'm convinced we have a large percentage of fans who don't watch the game properly.

Would expect a good few of our younger pros to be loaned to clubs outside the EFL.

 Fair point.

I can’t work a formation out to be honest because I haven’t seen enough of our new players.

It’s a good challenge for DM and his team to solve and is going to take a bit of time to work out.

In the season before, Ojo managed 51% of minutes.

Of the 28 games he played in, we won 6 - 1 of those he came on for 7 minutes.

Of the 18 he didn't play, we won 7. One one good run of the season, 1st Oct-1st Jan, when we won 7 of 14, is a run he played precisely 1 minute in.

He managed to petulantly pick up an off-ball red card away at Accrington, meaning he had a 3 game suspension for a run-in when survival was on the line.

Funso Ojo was an atheistically pleasing player but, bar a spell of around 10 games when he was partnered by what is often regarded as our best loanee midfielder in decades who has since gone on to blossom away from Ojo, he's failed to have any form of positive impact on us.

I just can't see how this is a loss.

Another one on the way!!

Full back I beg
