Summer transfer rumours and speculation

Bizarre day for me. We needed a lb / rb. Didn’t get one. We needed to reduce the squad size, we didn’t. What we didn’t need was strikers and attacking mids and we signed there. Strange

Your mummy😍

Just about your level - 93 and has dementia!

I try not to read everything you post - I can't think of many more negative than you - so, yes, I probably skip read your posts. i hate predictability.  And I certainly didn't see any reference to January - but that would have backed up what i was getting at, not proved me wrong?

I just don’t get what we have done today. We have signed players in areas we didn’t need to. Definitely no need for an attacking mid, no chance the new striker will get a look in either and I’ll be disappointed if he does ahead of our forwards. Jones and Grant still here and no lb / rb signed. Just don’t get our business today.

We play with one centreforward,  we now have 5. I think we have 6 (7 if you include Garrity) for the attacking midfield roles; we only use 2. It's hard to imagine a lot of them getting significant game time. I thought the squad was too big before yesterday.  Moore will have to work hard to keep a lot of these players engaged.

When he came to Vale Ojo described himself as a midfield ball winner who won the ball and gave it to others, he isn't a "Pirlo type player" or a player who'd drift past others. He never really played the "Luke Joyce" role of sitting just in front of the defense, Ojo often pushed further forward, linking the play but space was left behind which Lge 1 forwards sometimes exploited.

Ojo scored a few goals from shots outside the box and he did take penalties for a while.

IMHO Croasdale is more of a Luke Joyce type player than Ojo and if Croasdale is gonna start Vale also need a creator in midfield or the creativity has to come from out wide.

During his first season Pett generally did the holding role and they used Ojo further forward quite often. First half of last season Ojo did sit to allow Arblaster a bit more freedom.  Post January I must be honest I never worked out who was doing what specific role in midfield.

I do think it’s another bizarre window. We literally swing from one extreme to another.

A notoriously defensive coach loads up on attacking players when we were already well alstocked in the areas, with gapping holes on the defensive positions. WTF?!

And we were linked with another old-boy (Harratt)?

It makes you wonder who is actually signing these players?? And how can we create that ‘tight knit bunch’ when we have so many players?

Creating competition for places is one thing but the flip side is also cliches emerging of players constantly overlooked and who consequently rock the boat.

My hope is that these players have been heavily if not completely subsidized by their parent clubs.

I like the Richards signing, but wonder where on Earth he will fit in?

With the size of the squad now there can be absolutely no excuses from Moore and promotion really is a must.

Hi Tony you be made that clear… but to whom is your post addressed? All of us 😂

I hope Carol isn’t being hoodwinked. The signing situation seems almost out of control. It ll cost her a pretty penny.

Is it  almost impossible to mount a promotion challenge with the make up of the current squad and influx of players?

I prefer the rudgey method.. each window try and swop out your two weakest players for two better ones and over time you ll increase the strength of your team rather than this current method… not sure method is even the right word.

if anyone can guess todays starting line up I ll be impressed….

i ll have a go at naming 2 of the starting 11- Ripley and Stockley.

I just realised is the loan window still open? Difficult to get through a week at vale without a new signing being shuffled in.

No excuses now, Moore has HIS team, Carol has put her Faith (and money) in Moore and no doubt she wants a return on the investment.  Over to you Darren.

Looks like we’re coming up against Josh this season then. Think this is a great signing for them. Just sadly Crosby was utterly clueless on how to use him.

I think Ojo moving on is the right thing for both parties.

He’s a good player and that’s why he s gone to a league above his current team mates where he ll be alongside better players.
When he was with Arblaster and Devine and Garrity at the start of last season he was really good, we played some lovely stuff pre Christmas with a focus on possession and movement. And that was without a striker. Post Christmas when we lost Arblaster and Divine we also lost Garrity and Ojo through injury and losing 4 midfield players out of the team combined with having no forwards started us on a difficult downward spiral which even changing the manager couldn’t halt.

After last night's activity I am beginning to wonder whether Flitcroft was given a secret scouting / recruitment roll? 🫠.

Who am I to doubt our Manager but it all seems to have gone a bit silly.
