Summer transfer rumours and speculation

Well woke up to this.

What an utterly baffling scattergun approach it looks. Even by our soap opera goings on it was a weird window.

I just can't see what we're trying to do.

Yes it was only one game but Barrow illustrated hugely we need a left footer at LWB and we can't keep making do at RWB.

They ought to of been the main priorities.

Also wonder where this leaves Dipepa. He's our young hope. I want to see him, not a Sheffield United kid instead.

All on Moore now. He's got a berserk squad.

I really hope I don't see a tepid cautious display today.

So the squad is .

Ripley Amos

Henegan /Smith

Hall/Jones

Hart /Grant

Croasdale/Cover

Garrity /Richards

Paton/Hackney

Stockley /Tolaj

Chislett/Dipepa

Curtis/BBB

Diamond/plant

Debrah /Lowe

Sang ?

Where's the cover for Sang and how can a defensive minded coach have a system to fit all the attacking players we have

12.30 today we see how hopefully .

Should be doing better than a couple of attempts at goal at home from now on in if not ill be holding a INQUEST.

I can see why he as bought in Richards and Cover ,second half last week the energy just didn't seem  right in midfield but I suspect that's because Byers was not fit enough to play but played anyway to get more fitness .

And reply to gooders that 4-0,last week was a freak result everything they hit went in they were no better than us if Garrity converts that chance different game altogether he didn't they then put one in top corner and then we gave away 2 more sloppy goals .

Last season we couldn't beat a egg especially under DM however when you have players giving teams goals what do you expect

No excuses now, Moore has HIS team, Carol has put her Faith (and money) in Moore and no doubt she wants a return on the investment.  Over to you

Looks like we’re coming up against Josh this season then. Think this is a great signing for them. Just sadly Crosby was utterly clueless on how to use him.

He’s quick be interesting to see how it goes.

As I remember it he started off in the team then got injured so Crosby did want him involved at least to begin with.. I think he then went on international duty and got injured again? Also pre Christmas we were playing well and getting results so he didn’t get many opportunities.

would he get in our team today?  Is  he better than Paton or the lad from Aldershot  I suspect he and there would be no fee involved is but time will tell.

I am amazed at yesterday's signings. We've ended up with 4 loan signings who are all young lads. Only Ojo has been moved out. The word "panic" springs to mind

Have to agree DF.

If John is LWB and Sang RWB today I swear I'll scream !!

A truly bizarre set of signings in all the wrong areas. Baffled dot com.

Changing tack sorry.

Particularly as we had Tranny 2 weeks ago.

I know he's as mad as a box of frogs but I do hope Warren is OK. Not seen a post from him in ages.

The striker (and midfield) loan signings seem bizarre.

We currently play with one striker. We have Stockley, Paton and Tolaj already. If neither of those three work we then have Dipepa.

If all four don’t work we can then look at the situation in January.

Its as if these players have been offered to us late one and we’ve just said yeah go on then.

Agree. Signing Hackford, another young striker loan signing is mental considering we have Paton/Tolaj/Dipepa who are our own young players which we should be developing. We paid a lot of money for Tolaj and Paton too!

Unless Hackford is going to be a surprise 20 goal striker, it doesn't make sense why we are developing other clubs players.

I'm not happy with Hackford coming in, and if I were Baylee, I wouldn't be either.

The call ups to the U18s means that Baylee needs to be breaking into the first team over the season (and he will need League 1 football next season) if he is to graduate to the U19s level of the England setup. I mention it because we should do everything we can to help Baylee as its likely at some point he is a saleable asset of some value.

The other two loans make some sense, Cover at RB (for cover 😄) and Richards to come in for Ojo and it seems DM might like him alongside Croasdale.

But it is a bit odd, our captain is an AM / second striker and we're now stacked in all of those positions. Our squad seems top heavy in forwards over defence and yet we are playing with a 5 defensive unit and a single striker with wide forwards 😄

Hopefully the changes mean we ditch the wingbacks and go with wingers in a 343 or similar, because I don't see how the squad management works in the long term.

I believe the loan window might still be open for the Conference level, so maybe it's possible one or two go there for a few months.

If you think DM probably wants to work with a squad of around 25, this is what I can come up with - assuming Jones is really out of the picture, and all youngsters go on loan (incl. Dipepa who I would rather see stay with the squad for the reasons others have mentioned above...)

GK Ripley, Amos
FB: Sang, Cover, Hart, John, Grant (inj. Clark)
CB: Debrah, Heneghan, Hall, Smith, (Lowe)
CM: Byers, Croasdale, Garrity, Lowe, (Cover), (Grant)
W: Curtis, Benicio, Edwards, Richards
CAM: Chislett, Tolaj
ST: Stockley, Paton, Hackford

However this really points towards a four at the back, if we play 5 at the back we have 9 players vying for 3 attacking positions which seems ludicrous. But I'd be worried about the quality and balance of our full backs if we play 4. There were a couple of games at the end of last season where we had a back 4 with Sang and Grant at full back, my heart rate still hasn't come down.

I hope Carol isn’t being hoodwinked. The signing situation seems almost out of control. It ll cost her a pretty penny.

Is it  almost impossible to mount a promotion challenge with the make up of the current squad and influx of players?

I prefer the rudgey method.. each window try and swop out your two weakest players for two better ones and over time you ll increase the strength of your team rather than this current method… not sure method is even the right word.

if anyone can guess todays starting line up I ll be impressed….

i ll have a go at naming 2 of the starting 11- Ripley and Stockley.

So the opposition have no clue, advantage us.

I really don’t understand the reaction to last night on here. We’ve essentially made a few squad moves in preparation for loans out and saved money on a high wage earner.

The lads bought in yesterday will not be starters but perhaps DM provided an indication we will be two up top moving forward with either a back 4 or 3.

I keep reading at FB positions we are well short but I don’t think that’s an issue with enough players who can cover LB or RB.

You could argue a Left sided player who could play WB for Hart but with Grant close to fitness and John showed he’s more than capable of doing a job on that side as well. I think we are OK.

The squad needed major surgery so the Rudge approach was not practical.

Our last promotion proved it’s possible to have a complete squad rebuild and be successful.

Unless Grant and Jones are heading to the National League, they’ll be more than likely sat twiddling their thumbs until January.

Unless we can set them on in the ticket office…

I think todays signings signal a loan move for Plant.

If you look at it that way we will be 2 in and 2 out ( so far) so it’s more squad tweaking rather than increasing numbers.

He should be loaned out to a National League club imo no lower

All these attacking players in the squad now,he surely has to change to a more attacking style because if not it's pointless and will end up with unhappy players and teams loaned from.

Do these new loan players have pace does anyone know?

Too many players bought in. The league two Chelsea.

The club cant win.....last season it was not enough

The funny thing is though at the end of last season SOME on here were having a meltdown that we will only be able bring in a few players with having so many under contract and what is it 16 now and still a possibility of a free agent

I agree mate.  DM already struggling to come up with a system where he can fit every one in and that is playing only 1 forward & we now have 5.  Bit crazy in my opinion.
