That would be a shame and a loss! Good luck - hope it goes well for you!

Finally, a player with pace that tries to beat his man!

Would have preferred Mighten due to him being much more experienced though.

We’ve got plenty of experience in the squad mate, need a bit of youth in the team for some balance & always open to giving them a chance. I know Mighten didn’t get a lot of game time but from what I saw I wasn’t overly impressed myself. At the time I was happy with the signing though

You mean the Ray Walker we bought for 12k. When was the last time Vale bought a Premier loanee? when?

It's Mitch Clark m8

As horrendous as the Mitch Clark news is, it brings into sharper focus the very pressing need to bring in a few wingbacks.

I hope we are still looking at Kyle John, but that seems to have gone a bit quiet. Looking at the PFA teams that have been training over the summer, Nesta Guinness-Walker is a free agent and has been keeping fit with them, as has TJ Eyoma.

He doesn’t come across as someone who will connect with the fans like Ollie did. As talented as Arblaster is & was for us what I really liked about him was he’s so level headed for such a young age & he really took to the fans. He loved it here. I sense a little bit of arrogance with Benicio & can’t see him being as close to the fan base like Ollie was but I hope I’m proved wrong. Seems the sort who just does his talking on the pitch. Ollie was very grateful to be at Port Vale & he said it a few times how much this club meant to him. Some youngsters at big clubs won’t feel that way & maybe think they are bigger & better a bit like Alfie Devine I thought at times but Arblaster is a special kid & a great human being

That's some statement based on a 3 minute video. Wasted on here should be on "Cracker".

I know I shouldn't rise to this attention seeking but this is a ridiculous comment. The issue is when you make it your sole strategy as we tried last season and it comes back to bite you. No harm in doing this to supplement what are already some exciting attacking options, all of which are permanent players.

I’ve had KR44 on Block since a few days after I rejoined the OVF messageboard.

The only time I see his attention-seeking and malicious comments is when someone quotes them … 🙂

Eyoma was on a very high wage at Lincoln; one of the main reasons he was released. I suspect he was looking for similar elsewhere.

😂 time will tell, I’m hoping he becomes a fan favourite.

I’d be surprised if we weren’t still looking, but that’s the thing, for all we know we could have offered contracts to him/other fullbacks and lots of other players too, during the Summer, but we obviously only get to hear about the ones who sign.  Both Paton and Heneghan have mentioned how long it seemed to take to get their deals over the line after they’d initially agreed to join us. It was an obvious frustration for Flitcroft too but he’d pretty much found his depth in our promotion season and his inability to get good, experienced players in the club over the last couple of years (rather than gambling on highly rated loanee kids) cost us our league position and him his job. However, this Summer’s dealings, so far, seem to show we have now improved our ability to get players to sign, more than likely due to having a high profile manager (we’ve been told by our CEO that our playing budget is near enough the same as last season), but it’s clearly still a challenge to get the players the club wants through the door.  I’ve heard both Adam Yates and Phil Sproson say in interviews/during match commentaries how attracting players to the Vale has always been a hard sell which makes this Summer’s business even more laudable.

Not sure it's a harder sell than somewhere like Rochdale. Cambridge always find recruitment hard as it's a nightmare to get to, as is Carlisle.  Wychwood Park certainly used to be full of professional footballers as it's an easy commute to a lot of clubs. Some clubs are just in nice cities,  which definitely gives advantages.  Exeter is a great place, as is Cardiff.  A lot of our ex players have stayed local despite moving clubs. I don't think we are in the bottom 10% but probably below halfway for lower league clubs. Obviously way below Championship and Premiership sides. League 1 has become a bit skewed in recent years with the likes of Sunderland,  the 2 Sheffield Clubs, Derby, Ipswich and Portsmouth having prolonged stays. The reality is any player not geographically constrained would pick those clubs if they came calling. This year there's only Birmingham that's a lot bigger than everyone else. It may also drive a bit more reality into lower league salaries.

I agree with you, Port Vale is not a harder sell, geographically wise.

Just look at all the places that a footballer playing for Port Vale could live within a 45 - 60 minute radius of Vale Park like Cheshire and Manchester for example.

Plus the commute to London on a train is really good
