Is it just me or is anyone else irritated that they keep calling them season long loans when they are nothing of the sort. They belong to another team and if they don't like the way things are progressing or they want to place them elsewhere or they just want them back there is nothing we can do about it.

I'm not complaining about signing loan players it can be extremely useful to cover areas we are light or for injuries I just wish they would stop calling them season long loans. None of our so called "season long loans" were here for the entire season last time so just call it a loan and leave it at that.

Mini Rant over 😁

I think this lad seems a decent addition with potential but like most others I was surprised it was a winger we signed not a right back, especially since we have narrowed the pitch, but hopefully a right back is on the way.

They don’t always get called back though in January; some do some don’t. So until anything else happens it is a season long loan. That’s the deal. Not sure why that bothers you so much to be honest 😂

Highly successful loan players goes back in Jan.

Poor loans who are bench warmers or even struggle to get in the match day squad get sent back in Jan.

Bang average loan player contributes here and there but nothing great you get to keep all season.

Great loan system. 👍

Looks a decent signing, hes made a handful of apps in the top flight and gives us something we are missing in terms of a wide man with pace.

Problem for loanees is our fan base will probably largely use Oli as a yardstick and our chances of falling on a loanee coming in who's already at lower end Premier League level is slim, its probably a 1000 to 1 occurrence, its fairly rare to see at L1 and 2 level full stop (Elliott Anderson, Jack Grealish probably another 2 in the past decade or so).

Sort out Right Wing Back and we are pretty much there.

I agree with you, Port Vale is not a harder sell, geographically wise.

Just look at all the places that a footballer playing for Port Vale could live within a 45 - 60 minute radius of Vale Park like Cheshire and Manchester for example.

Plus the commute to London on a train is really good

Or Staffordshire, most of which is beautiful.

Potentially.

This may cause a little bit of controversy but I'm not a fan of Stoke on Trent or Staffordshire.

I left many years ago and never plan to move back.

I do not even enjoy visiting Stoke on Trent for a day or even a Vale game. That is me being totally weird though.

Get off the motorway and get out of the towns.

I went for a walk a few days ago in the Thor's Cave / Manifold Valley area of the Staffordshire White Peak region - it stands comparison with the best beauty spots which the UK has to offer.

Just for a few examples, the Dove Valley and Lud's Church and the Churnet Valley and Rudyard Lake are each equally fine.

No, I don't work for the Staffordshire Tourist Board ... 🙂

Unless Vtid knows differently it looks like we are going with Sang at the back then

Tony Sealy...my all time fave loan

Ray Walker...what a player

I'm thinking of Alan Lee,David Healy,David Riley...some great loans too

Chris Killen was also very good imo another who i think was hit by injuries during his career and who can forget David Lowe in his 2 spells

They bought Ben Whitfield from Bournemouth after a loan spell in 2018.

If there is a chance of a permanent signing then yes I agree with it.

But not to just give the player experience and then leave the club high and dry such as Devine and Arblaster did when they left. Let's face it, the whole season fell apart when they both left

It depends, id argue harratt had a decent loan and he wasnt recalled, if the team is chasing promotion like we should be this season they will lean to keeping him for the experience but yea theres never any guarantee.

The buy a player fund proved to be a major turning point in the fortunes of the club.

He had a tremendous Wembley final appearance which skews the view of his whole loan. It was a huge success because he scored a goal in the game that mattered but he was hardly pulling up trees throughout his loan. He was very much in and out of the team during his loan period.
