Play on the pitch - expressions of interest?

50 years ago but now not a chance, although I can trap a ball when I sit down these days.

Always remember  running onto the Vale pitch after the last game of the season when I was about 12 years old and looking from the center circle to the Bycars Road goal and it seemed miles away.

I see Scunthorpe are offering fans the opportunity to play against ex-players. Raffle tickets are £10, one lucky person can play in the team with the ex-players for £2.5k.

Loft and Ian Botham up front ?

😂😂. I’d imagine that’s why Botham uses that Revitive.. perhaps they’ll take Loft, they had that donkey Bennett.

I've checked and apparently Teddy will be available for a game. Unless it’s an official game, it’s a non designated event.

A pitch is a pitch. When I've been on Vale park in the past it didn't feel any different from any other pitch to be honest.

As for playing in front of spectators I've played in front of at least 100 at non league.

If I play it will be against happy clappers for sure!

I heard from a mate that m there was a game on the pitch a couple of weeks ago with fans and featured smith, Gibbo and Griff as guests, not sure who else was involved.

I think that was a game with one of the sponsors, Ironmarket.

A pitch is a pitch?  I doubt you‘ve ever kicked a ball with that kind of statement.  Even at local pub level some pitches are definitely far better than others.  It’s much easier to play on a decent surface than it is a heavy pitch that’s cutting up or a rutted, bobbly surface in the drier months.  Whenever I’ve been on league pitches the quality of the grass and the surface itself has been quite noticeably better than most non league grounds.

I have kicked a ball.

I was referring to standing on Vale park after a match. No thrills experience.

Playing in front of a few thousands would be a dream IMO.

By the way, are Portly still playing, Would love to get involved. Been playing 3 times a week since I've lost a shitload of weight. Be nice to get back into 11 a side.

No, Jonny ruined the club. It went downhill after Stu left, best manager Portly had. Dodgy Jonny was.
