Like others have said it depends where Carol’s head is at. Does she want to put 5/10 million into the vale to potentially transform it and deal with all the ongoing stress, or does she want to take a well earned retirement and move abroad and relax and live a life of luxury. 
I know which I would choose. 

Some people aren't wired like that. I know someone who sold their business, had more than enough money to retire in complete comfort but got bored and so started up the exact same company again from scratch.

After all of the crap and vitriol that's been going Carol's way over the last few months I wouldn't blame her in the slightest for not putting another penny into the club. But she won't do that. Because she genuinely cares about the club. And we're very lucky that she does. 99% of other owners would have done a Norm. There's only so many people willing to lose millions running a football club and at the same time always try to have its best interests at heart. Carol is one of them. But some of you think she should walk away. Or have you changed your minds now she's likely to be financially much better off and expect her to justify your annual £300 purchase by putting 180 million into the club?

I agree, I see a lot of them in my job. Certainly not the way I would be, but like you say some are geared for business and as soon as they leave one, look for another / start again.

£180m before any fees and tax due on the payout, plus they have family that I'm sure they'll want to help. 

Still it's enough to really make a huge difference for us, as Carole has shown she cares about leaving a legacy with the club and foundation.

The rumour that said this was happening also said the Shanahans were going all in on Vale and wanted to ‘leave a legacy’.

But just 3% interest on, say, 100m invested properly would generate 3m a year, which is more than enough to drastically change a club at our level. That's if she wants to put that Vale's way, which she's not obliged to do and I hope she does whatever is right for her, Kevin and the family
