Smith wouldn't be anywhere near my defence currently. Him and Yak have been like 2 lumbering dinosaurs for ages now.

Exactly what we should be trying. It’s not rocket science and looks far better suited to our squad.

Would personally have Jones at LB, Grant in with Funso, drop Smith and have Lowe or Sang at right back but in principle that system looks, on paper, like a far more solid but progressive setup.

Who takes the team tomorrow/Saturday? Dunn?

'Fraid so - and with a 15% win ratio as a manager. The sooner we get a proper manager in the better!

The irony that we actually had a stronger squad back when this was postponed due to international call ups. Even without the various loanees playing U21s football I would’ve had more faith in us getting some points.

all formation are back on the table now. 442, 433, 4312, 31312, 1111111111. wait and see

A new day, a new dawn on the roller-coaster that's Vale.
If I'm honest, I'm not holding my breath for tonight.
I expect some sort of reaction but I'm not sure of a victory, especially if DF is pulling the strings and insistant on playstyle, formation etc etc then it's just a case of same old same old. I suppose tonight we will see just how much influence he has over what happens in the pitch.

Got tonight off work .

So I'll be there .

Be interesting see who is selected .

We at home I'd expect us play like the home team .

I'd also expect changes of personnel a new club captain and the players have goal attempts

I'd also expect a draw minimum.

There's a lot of making up by Vale players to the 1100 who in my opinion who were cheated at the weekend .

There better be a reaction .

Could not agree more about Smith. Horrendous season regardless of position.

Sadly I can only see a spanking! But I live in hope as always. We could really do with something!

I am not looking forward to going tonight but we can only hope for some kind of positive reaction from the players.

I notice people want 4 at the back. I think a failure to switch to 4 at the back was a significant reason in Crosby losing games and his job. I'm on board, but remember a new interim Spurs manager changing the back line at Newcastle last season and he was 5-0 down after 20 mins. Sacked next day! So we may be lumbered with this 3 CD formation until there is a break in games to change it. But that doesn't mean it can't be improved. For me Rhys Williams is a very unfortunate outcome which has harmed the club. He would have made a big difference and was recruited in time, if fit, to be helpful in recent games. He was exactly what is needed to change to 4 at the back. Big and good on the ball. We have brought in another promising defender of a similar nature, but late in the window and needing to improve fitness.

The rainfall today in Stoke on Trent is likely to create a new record for 6 Feb in the area. What is it doing to the pitch?

Has to be 4 at the back tonight. Back to basics solid base  win the battle against your man. Now is the time for the senior players to pull the fingers out of their arses and battle.

I called it that Saturday would be our 'Accrington away' moment and it certainly was. So Tuesday will be our 'Accrington at home' moment. With a stinking bad referee, loads of time wasting and a penalty conceded sometime during the 111 minutes playing time.

Vale 1 (Smith) Leyton Orient 2. Att: 4201 and there will 9 more portaloos than Orient fans.

Can't wait !!

You should be made manager!
