January Transfers and Rumours

That’s a crazy statement.  Why would or should they put the details of a sacking, if that’s what it was, out into the public domain?  That information is private and the only way that would change would be if there was criminal activity resulting in a court case, which clearly there wasn’t.

It’s understood the chief executive’s exit, eight games from the end of the season, was not his decision.

Yeah a totally healthy series of events at the open and transparent community club.

Still think we have a chance. We signed ex Newcastle player Ryan Taylor who was on 20k per week at one stage. Once upon a time the likes of James Wilson, Michael Brown and Lee Hughes were Prem Stars on mega wages, but they were in reach. Personally think the biggest problem is, Dwight Gayle would hate the obvious grief off Stoke fans for the switch.

I think the biggest problem with us hoping things come up in the free agent market is that, unless like Gayle, they have just been released, the majority have not been in regular training.

It leaves us in the situation we had with Uche where it could take any free agent who hasn't been with a club for while some weeks to get anywhere close to matchfit. We can't afford those weeks, we needed someone who was ready to go straight away - and that's why our lack of signings in January (even if it had been a young striker with no experience on loan) just didn't make sense.

I would say Gayle is the exception in that he should be fit - but the majority of free agents won't be anything like fit to just come in and play. Madine, for instance, has spent months recovering from an ACL injury.

Colin Garlick was very much an unsung hero over the years.

I think it's telling that before he came onboard we had issues (I remember the Lee Hughes paperwork fiasco where we failed to get him the first time and had to wait till January for him to come). After he's left we appear to have had another paperwork issue with the US midfielder. But we didn't appear to have any such issues when Garlick was in place.

Rob, I agree and a lot of vacancies have been filled using nepotism and cronyism, two ingredients that eventually lead to failure. Patrick Shanahan replaced CG if I’m correct with little to no  knowledge or experience of this roll in football. So do you think that this faux pas, is down to DF has he has been in the game long enough and it would have been his area of business.?

I spoke to Colin not long after he left and he said to me that he did not leave of his own accord and that he didn’t want to leave.

I don’t buy this rubbish from this American lad.

You could guarantee if we thought he was as good as Clint Dempsey we would have done everything to make sure he had the paperwork.

I suspect the lad wasn’t t good enough.

We literally announced his signing though. Why would we have offered him a contract if we didn't think he was good enough?

Agreed.  Seems a desperate attempt by someone to stir something up to produce anything to beat the club over the head again.  That's the last thing that we need now; we need some cool heads to come up with a plan of how we're going to get out of this situation AND for that plan to be communicated to us, the fans.  We all then need to get behind the plan and survive the season.

Once the season is over - then we can start to do an autopsy and look at culprits.

It's hardly news is it.  Vale reported his return to the US in November.

Once the ship has sank, we can work out which iceberg was to blame.

Open and transparent community club?  Why would you expect to know why someone lost their job in any walk of life?  Not only that, you’re saying they should potentially breach confidentiality agreements and data protection laws.  We can only speculate on the reason for his departure, there may have been whispers.  If CG was sacked he won’t want the reasons known and if he was made redundant, which seems unlikely given that the role still exists, he would’ve had some financial package which would’ve almost certainly involved both parties agreeing to confidentiality.  If he’s simply retired the nature of the job, the information he was privy to, would mean that the club would insist on this type of agreement.  As I said, we can only speculate on the reason for his departure but the truth is you want to know rather than need to know..

Did he tell you why he was asked to leave?  A simple yes or no will suffice.

I was hoping to come on here to find the recruitment team had handed their notice in but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Social media has its place,  but to bash X ( Twitter for the old uns) with Adeteye, that is old news and just has no place in where we are now.

Some people have an agenda, a bit like do you support Vale or Stoke?

Sjoke want the Coates out because they are useless with spending money, we moan because we dont spend money so that is C&K fault.

That is all background stuff.

Fact is we are not performing with the players we have. Saturday 1st half Grant put 3 balls in to the box from corners, 5 yards out and not a single Vale player was in a position to attack the ball, free header to a Fleetwood defender. I could go on.

Is it the manager or the players? Can these players think on there own or do they play like robots?

Wrong thread for tactics, but I do feel that AC has got to own up to this, bad hand dealt with injuries, loans moving on, injured. ( I could go on Chizzy is not doing a lot)

Conclusion, we will stay up, fans will and probably get changes, hopefully we get back to supporting not bickering. Main thing is we progress, we were in Lg 2 remember.
