Spot on mate! That’s exactly what he is 🤦‍♂️

How you work that one out? He signed permanently on a 2 year deal with Stoke would find it very strange they’d continue to pay his wages

Not necessarily.  If Newcastle had paid him upfront would have hit their profit and loss account in 1 year - impacting them under FFP rules.  Paying on a phased basis stream over more than 1 year having less of an impact.  I remember RobbieFowler saying when he went back to Liverpool he was being paid by them, Man City and Leeds!

Fair enough 👍🏻 makes more sense now

Jean whilst I agree, probably our last roll of the dice in getting any serious investment.

They did.

To get him off their wage bill they contributed £20k per week towards his wages.

Suppose it saves them some money then 👍🏻

Not sure if Wickham even wants to stay in the game after a fair while out. Even if he did he may take weeks to get up to speed like Uche did. If Madine doesn't opt for Blackpool or also doesn't call it a day then he too may take some weeks to be anywhere near. Vale need someone who can come in and play from day one.

Dwight Gayle is presumably match fit but would his expected wages be way beyond our budget?

In my view the experienced free agent options are very few and far between and it seems very unlikely we would get anyone unless.... there's some more free agents in those lucrative Australian, New Zealand, Scandinavian markets that our DoF says are so good...

I'd go for Gayle. He's proved it at stoke that is championship days are over. Drop down a division might help him get his shooting boots back. Yes his wages would be an issue, but playing is better than sitting on a bench every week.

Another farce to add to the list. The American lad who's deal fell through hads shed some light on why.

Great advert for all these scandi/aussie strikers our Director of Failure is trying to entice over Screenshot_20240204_203418.jpg

Surely if we wanted him we would of applied for whatever it is

So your saying you think we announced signing him, then purposefully didn't get all the documents together so he wouldn't sign? Highly doubtful.

More likely the recruitment wizards stuffing up again.

Unless there’s something more that’s pretty amateur hour stuff. Applying for international clearance is a pretty standard thing in these transactions. Don’t know who is at fault on this but I’d say this kind of thing wouldn’t have happened with Colin Garlick here.

Maybe sacking the very experienced club secretary while refusing to publicly explain why wasn't the most well thought out or well executed master plan.

Jess Frost has been listed as the club secretary on the official site since at least July 2023. She's also on there as an "executive assistant" under the boardroom section. i.e., presumably, Carol's PA.

Why would you sack Colin and replace him with, again this is presumably, your PA? He held a critically important role.
