if he's on a few grand a week wed have to as no one at port vale was on a few grand a week last season. not a chance he comes in on similar or more wages than conlon smithy woz. he's a young lad who will be on ok money no doubt but nowhere near a top earner. his contract at stoke was signed when he was 19 with no games. crackers if you think he was on 3-4 grand.

im making the point that we won't have broken the wage structure! someone said forrester is on a few grand a week and im saying no chance, we have an excellent wage structure in place and aren't gonna blow through it for a young lad.

i'm praising the club ffs!

so weve made him our highest paid player, we know there is a strict cap at the club and it wasnt few grand a week.

im praising the club for being shrewd and getting 3 good players for good deals. instead i have to pretend were man city giving out 3k a week contracts to young lads, otherwise im a negative nancy. people looking for stuff which isn't there.

I haven’t said any of that.

Read what I said. I said he would have been on a few grand a week at Stoke. Their lads getting a pro deal and making appearances for the first team aren’t on hundreds of pounds a week like our lads are here that come out of the academy.

He will not have signed here for hundreds a week, no way. My educated guess would be that he is on more than a grand a week with us IMO. But he won’t have been made the clubs highest paid player, he will have to have taken a pay cut to sign for us.

The current wage structure put in place by this management is absolutely the right way to go.

They will not break that for anybody.

Any Player at Vale who wants more money are going to have to earn it by winning matches and/or reaching points targets.
I don’t know or care who the highest earner is, so long as they all prove their worth at the end of the day.

I think the highest paid player we have on the books is Woz at £2400 a week as he signed the contract before the structure came in. However, it seems he has signed an extension and it wasn't publicised so he might drop down once the original end date of his contract passes. Unsurprisingly Wilson is the highest paid of the wage structure, around £2100.

Forrester is likely to be on around the £1000 a week mark.

Have you just made all of this up?

May be a daft question but who’s going to be the sub goalkeeper on Saturday if we don’t bring one in? Have we got a youth keeper on the books?
If DC doesn't think there is anyone else any good we won't have one on the bench.
99 times out of a 100 you don't need a sub keeper anyway.

The players also had a promotion clause in their contracts for 20% or 25% (I forget which now) pay increase with promotion.

no chance he's taken a pay cut.

you're telling me a lad has walked away from 3k+ a week guaranteed to drop down a league to his boyhood club's biggest rivals for a pay cut in a move which may or may not work out. taking an almighty risk with his career for less money.

if so he is the bravest and craziest lad we've ever had. my view is he's on similar here to what he was at stoke, maybe a tad more, but he wasn't on 3k a week at stoke. if he's gone from 3k to 1k here he's chucking away 100 grand a year at 21. absolutely no chance.

I think with five subs allowed there may be more temptation to take a risk and name just outfield players anyhow.

If you can bring five players on, then the sub goalie is just reducing your choices by one most weeks.

which player out of forrester agyakwa and small do you think we will be paying a lot of money for? they have 10 professional games between them.

for me it's a credit to the club three exciting players signed for not much outlay. i'd be worried if we were forking out big wages for them.

not sure why any objective comment, three young players will be quite cheap for us, is seen as criticism if its not pie in the sky praise. we've made some shrewd buys but we still lack a goalkeeper and 2-3 forwards and the season is 48 hours away. was exciting on tuesday to get the signings in but i doubt any will start on saturday but heaven forbid proctor gets injured again.

Derek I agree with as he was a free agent with little experience, will Southampton not be covering the bulk of Small’s wages. Forrester on the other hand, was his priority game time at any cost…… doubt his agent would see it that way. Both him & Conor Taylor were under contract to a championship club, experience or not.

I doubt the accuracy of a list that says Tom Pett is on £600/week.

Yeah did you read the bit where I said certain it won't be exactly right? Did you see that? But like I said it's a good guide for players like Wilson and Worral etc who we knew were at the top end of the wage structure, who were the two players I originally mentioned.

It's like people on here purposely miss the important bits out of sentences just so they can try and prove a point. Bizarre.

There was a league 2 wage structure

We are now in league 1

The cap was a basic wage by the way, Vale contracts are incentive driven

yes massey and ojo good wages.
i said the signings on tuesday. small most of his wages covered by southampton i imagine. forrester i think will be on ok money but nowhere near the figures quoted by some. middle of the pack i would guess.

Small maybe on 15k as week , that small Vale contribution could be massive for Us

Every players contract is incentive driven in some way with appearance, goals, clean sheet bonuses.
