Our only hope Aspin gone

Recommended Posts

Apart from players who signed for higher up clubs, Aspin got the signings he wanted. Take Raglan, Aspin said great signing played one and a half games and dropped. Not Smurt fault that Aspin can’t pick a team.
Can't say I've ever seen a Manager come out after making a signing and say "well he wasn't my first choice, the chairman's a ***** so this lads the best we can afford".

Just a thought which you don't seem to get it,

We needed players (got bodies) and the wage/budget restrictions probably meant aspin would have preferred his first 20-30 options but had to be happy with anyone he could get in through the door cause to not try anything even with his limited frame work/budget would have been criminal.

Exactly. On the same page of this thread Aspin has been criticized for saying a crap player is good and has also been criticized for not having crap players believe he wants to keep them on in the summer!

Not true Aspin created room by getting rid of players. Raglan loan wouldn’t have been cheap and we payed money for Howe who hasn’t even played yet. We also payed money for Dion. We also have players like Reeves who can’t get into the side who are options. He also had a chance to resolve goalie situation and didn’t do it! All this business about him missing out on 20 or so options was also rubbish, this the same for most clubs and most of those didn’t want to play at our level. I feel he has been supported by the management but like Brown isn’t making the best of the tools in his box. I have seen Vale teams with a lot less ability do a lot better, they need motivation, bravery and solid tactical nous and Aspin has not created that.

As we are we are going out with a whimper why not at least have a go? Sometimes u get an instant reaction from players when a new manager comes we see it time and time again and that may be just enough keep us in the league, I'd prefer have a go and go down rather than just accepting our fate....

Great idea. Let's change the manager EVERY game, for that inevitable reaction, so we'll win every game to the end of the season

Name the Vale teams/seasons?

Praps should have its own thread.

Easy. 1967 Stanley Matthews. Bobby Smith and Dennis Butler 1977/8. Alan Bloor 1978/9. More recently teams managed by Jim Gannon, Lee Sinnott and Dean Glover were poor.Best managers in order Freddie Steele, John Rudge, Gordon Hodgson, Gordon Lee, Micky Adams, Brian Horton. Indeed apart from a spell under Roy Sproson and Horton all ex. vale players have made poor managers at the club.

The manager who would have got the best out of our current players was Gordon Lee, he achieved promotion with players who cost less than nothing!
