Suspensions & Fatigue

However unfortunate the red cards were last night, if they don't get overturned then we'll lose Montano for 1 game and Gibbons for what could be 4!

This means that until the new year we'll be without a right back. So unless Wilson steps up or Davis comes back from injury to slot in, we may have to change our system to accommodate Worrall as a wing back.

Also our midfield has got to be shattered after the last few games and, as well as Kay has done, surely need a rest to benefit the team in the long run.

It's going to be an interesting December now. Last nights game has really done us over, unless we can benefit from the fighting spirit we showed and take it forward into the rest of the season.

People say this but Aspin made a couple of shrewd decisions last night which may mean it isn't as bad Saturday as feared.

Pope

Worrall

Whitfield

Taken off early and just after the second so them three should be fresh, Harness played less than an hour so assuming he replaces Monty our four man forward line should be fresh enough.

I'd be tempted to replace Tonge with Pugh to keep fresh legs in there although Tonge came off didnt he?

Smith and Anderson at the back are youngsters so should recover quicker, we could always replace Mad Gav with Denton who didnt play the full game.

I'd play Lawrie Wilson, he is in a situation where he needs to perform to rescue his career, no one bigger will come in for him as it stands and he has the quality to do a very good job for us, he wouldn't have succeeded at Bolton and Stevenage if he wasn't good enough. Its his chance to take that right back position over the four games and make a case for keeping it... that said he hasn't even featured in the Checkatrade under Aspo let alone the bench for league games so it depends what has gone on there. He is an experienced right back with quality in the locker... he has to be playing these four games.

In all fairness on Saturday a couple may be knackered later in the game but much of the likely XI didnt play the full 130 minutes (inc Injury times) and 70 minutes down to 9.

An extremely intelligent analysis of the situation, and good to read a constructive post that offers solution rather than the dross that scapegoat certain players all the time.

I think provided they are not pushed too hard in training, the players will recover from the Yeovil match in 4 days, plenty of time if they get some proper rest.

The players will just cut back on any strenuous stuff in training, fitness wise a 120 minute game is worth a full week of training.

I’ve never played football, my sport was distance running and we always said, a half marathon race was worth a 20 mile training run.

Also I know of marathon runners who never trained at all but would just run a marathon every Sunday.so I would imagine training this week for the players will consist of a gentle jog to run the stiffness and lactic acid from the legs then just tactics stuff for the Carlisle game.

I just checked the BBC (see their weather homepage - enter Carlisle) and Friday is sunny 4 C, dropping to -2 at night (so possible frost), Saturday is 3 C, partly sunny - which suggests to me that if they have half-decent pitch covers and want the game on themselves, they should be able to get it played.

There won't be much time for training or tactics Conrad. I'm presuming they were off Wednesday following the match and long journey, in Thursday and was told by a guy who said he is the coach driver, after the first Yeovil game, that they would be travelling and staying overnight on Friday.

Unless he's found a new body in the last 8 weeks, Lawrie Wilson is not the answer. Hope I'm somehow wrong.
