With Cataluyna in turmoil,if it becomes independent,

there is a slight possibility that Barca,Espanol and Girona may not be allowed to play in La Liga.If it becomes a possibility would anyone welcome them to play in The Premier League,especially Barca?

I think we're a long way off Catalan independence even though both the Catalan Separatists and the PP are behaving like children. I also find it hard to believe that the LFP would seriously push for Barcelona to leave (despite the threats from Javier Tebas), for financial reasons alone.

Why the Premier League? Nothing to do with England let the Catalonians sort it out. Not going to be much of a league in Catalonia is it.

It would make much more sense for them to join the French league, many of their opponents would be nearer to them than their current adversaries from Madrid and the south of Spain.

I believe Monaco played in the Italian League for a while once, rather than the French league.

Isn’t part of so called Catalonia in Southern France anyway ? Making the idea of Barcelona playing in Ligue 1 not as bizarre as it may first seem. Still seems highly unlikely though, but would be interesting to see League games v PSG !

Probably linked many centuries ago, I think Catalan is a similar language to Southern French or whatever its proper name is.

Yes, part of southern France is Catalan too, Im not sure if it includes any Ligue 1 teams, and although unlikely stranger things have happened.

 

I think the chances are a full-blown European League will come though, Manchester City, and 3 or 4 from Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea would then play Barca, PSG, Juve, Real Madrid, Bayern and so on every week instead of Stoke, Wet Sham and Crystal Palace. Not good, but inevitable ?

Half of the fun of football on these shores is the rivalry between clubs. It can be just something that has happened between two clubs previously (Vale v Wrexham was tasty in the 60’s & 70’s). With a European League, most clubs would have NO history whatsoever, this making future games less than appetising. It may happen, but I don’t see it being a success.

Rousillon is the area.Not part of the Catalunya in Spain but a lot of ties and sympathies between them.Catalunya was under French protection centuries ago.
