West Brom is top of the table! Unfortunately for Baggies fans, it's a table showing the five highest football grounds in England and Wales.

 

1 The Hawthorns, West Bromwich Albion - 552ft

2 Boundary Park, Oldham Athletic - 526ft

3 Vale Park, Port Vale - 520ft

4 The Crown Ground, Accrington Stanley - 516ft

5 Moss Rose, Macclesfield Town - 513ft

Someone missed out Buxton F.C at 1,000 ft above sea level. Until a couple of years ago I lived right opposite to it!

West Brom doesn't get my attention for height, just for being a traffic nightmare area. Always a big mistake to leave Brum in that direction.

How high is Stoke's ground, it must be up there if you pardon the pun.

 

As an aside I always enjoyed going to grounds that were built amid the rows and rows of terrace houses, when you came across the ground they appeared to rise like cathedrals from the earth. Villa Park was incredible, parking was a nightmare though.

Roughly 1/6 of the way up England`s highest mountain at 3209 ft, not bad.

I did see the full table, and Stoke's drum is also one of the higher ones, I think just over 450 ft if I remember rightly, and in the top 20.

We've had this argument before. Dragging out OS maps and so on. Vale is second highest. A few meters higher than Oldham.
