Please, please, please can we let the ex-players/managers thing go!

 

So far we've had people clambering for Adams, Rudge, Aspin, Ainsworth and even Andy Porter!

 

It is now becoming seriously embarrassing that some people, no, the majority cannot see outside of Vale Park for inspiration.

In my opinion, if Aspin hadn't played for us I would be advocating us bringing him in.

640 games, with clubs with no money. Over 40% win ratio in that time. Massively experienced and managing a club 14 places below us.

He would certainly make my shortlist and it has nothing to do with him being a Vale legend.

I saw someone advocating Edinburgh but turned their nose up at Aspin.

Justin Edinburgh for our club is non league waiting to happen.

It's simply down to people's lack of football knowledge

That said I'd take Adams still the end of the season just because I'm convinced he'd keep us up

Adams in a dof part time capacity and a disciplinarian in Nigel Pearson that's my dream team whether it becomes a reality remains to be seen but any dream team have to know each other ,work together and read from the same sheet regarding tactics and setting up the team to utilise each players strengths within that team structure,thats the only way our slide into oblivion can be arrested.Browns scattergun approach should be turned into a manual on how not to manage a full time professional squad.

Edinburgh took Newport from second bottom in the Conference to promotion in 2 years. Then took them to 6th in league 2 before Gillingham came after him.

He didn't Tranmere.

 

Nor Sheffield United when he left us first time - but that doesn't make him a bad manager. People learn from experience - Rudgie endured relegation twice, and he was the best manager we will ever have and better than most clubs have ever had.
