Why is everyone so happy about playing 4-4-2? It's not 1998!

 

Coventry are lining up 4-5-1 so we're obviously going to get overrun in midfield as usual!

Because we've not had any shots on the goal so far. At least we might look a threat! Granted the time to do it was in the home matches but at least it's different to the **** in previous weeks.

Well yeah the choices are his he's has full backs available And has chosen this lot Barnett is back, Lainton is fit etc.... he can't say he hasn't got a squad available to pick Form etc

Why has Denton been dropped? Not done anything wrong or played badly when I've seen him?

 

And although Wilson hasn't been playing well at the start, he played 30+ games for a team promoted to the Championship last season so is hardly a bad player? Needs to just regain his confidence.

 

I'd much prefer to have proper fullbacks playing fullback rather than CB's out of position there.

Most teams that play 442 manage to. Possession means nothing, usethe ball well when we get it.

Brown said Wilson's been carrying an injury, something to do with an 'attachment' on his hamstring that needed surgery. Hopefully that is behind him now because a Bolton fan told me he thought Wilson was a decent steady player who was a good signing for us.

 

What confuses me today is the 4 centre halves in defence thing. If Pope and Barnett are a front two then Harness and Whitfield have to supply the crosses but without natural full backs behind them I can't see them getting forward enough. If he's so worried about having enough centre halves on the pitch why not go 5-3-2 / 5-4-1 or 5-3-1-1 with full backs getting up in support when going forward? I can't see what he is trying to achieve with 4 centre halves in a 4-4-2 formation.

Is montano injured, as he's not on the bench. No stobbs either. Probably won't see him much again now like the qpr lad last year. Can't see the point of Anderson on the bench when we have four centre halves on the pitch already and two full backs on the bench. Maybe because he the signing would look silly if he left him off the bench.

 

Was hoping to see Denton today and possibly Yates. Instead we have this 4 centre backs Pulis nonsense. If you're playing two up front, they need service, especially from the wings - which means you need proper full backs to push on in support of your wide players. It's not rocket science and Brown should know better. More negative than Page.
