Premier League 2017/18 Season

Liverpool would have been better off tying Emre Can down with a long contract rather than spending all that money on someone I wouldn't consider a definite starter. Still, he will definitely improve the squad and still has a lot of potential yet to be fulfilled I suppose.

How many more times are we going to have Liverpool spending millions on 'potential'

Apparently he chose Liverpool ahead of Chelsea cos he didn't want to play as a wing back so does that mean Liverpool will have to play him as an out and out winger cos in all honesty I don't think he's got what's needed to be a central midfielder.

People were saying exactly the same thing when Klopp signed Sadio Mane. That he was over-rated, over-priced, too inconsistent etc. Yet he's already one of the best players in the league, and can get even better. So if Klopp thinks he can do something similar with Chamberlain then I would trust his judgement much more over yours, or anybody elses. Man City have also just spent a silly amount of 'potential' this summer too in case you hadn't noticed.

You miss the entire point....it was you who said he had potential not me...surely for 35M he offers a lot more than potential? I think he's a proven wide player rather than potential and would do well as a winger in Liverpool's attacking style.

Fair enough. I just like whinging most of the time it seems!

Basically I think Chamberlain is already a fairly good player, but he's someone who definitely has it in him to be a really good player and I think Klopp can help him establish that much better than Wenger was ever able to. Considering he's already decent, can play in a few positions and is only 24/25 I don't think 35 million in today's market is a lot of money at all. You only have to look at our neighbours from across the city who have just spent nearly 20 million on Kevin Wimmer! As a squad player I think AOC is a great signing despite never being his biggest fan.

I reckon for 35M you could have got the finished article not a fairly food player..and you should be getting the finished article. As a wide man he probably is the finished article but tat's what he is..can't see him in a central midfield role

Them stupidly spending 20M on Wimmer doesn't justify spending 35M on potential.

I hope Ox is a success as I want Liverpool to do well.

Don't think he's a bad buy at £35 million in today's over inflated market, I'd say he's as good as Llalana and he's done a good job for Liverpool.

As good as Llalana? Talk about damned with faint praise :) Being as good as Llalana is like saying Dave Regis was a class player cos he was as good as Vince Overson ;)

Ridiculous statement to make. Lallana is a class player, and was Liverpool's best player last season until he got injured.

Pls note the :) and ;) occurring in my post above

Being Liverpool's best player last season until he got injured is like saying Ville Viljanen was our best player in 1999 until everyone realised how cr@p he was :) ;) ;). Llalana suddenly became a better player when he wasn't playing..it's often the case that a player is deemed to be missed so much when out that he magically becomes a better player :) ;) ;) ;)
