Premier League 2017/18 Season

Klopp's no fool and would certainly have known this was brewing. He will no doubt have potential targets lined up, but they are going have to be damned good to come up to the Magician Coutinho's standard. Plus any fee will now have rocketed skywards. I hope Klopp comes up with the goods because now more than ever English football needs a powerful and successful Liverpool.

Mahrez would be a great replacement, and would probably cost less than half of what we'd get from Barcelona for Coutinho. As good as he is, I'd swap Coutinho for Marhez and Van Dijk every day of the week.

Superb game to start the PL season. Vardy was brilliant. Arsenal, more of the same old. They're lovely to watch going forward when they are at it but they have the same negatives in the side and squad that they've now had for years, and will struggle to make the top 3 for that reason. I know they have a couple of injuries, but when you're starting Nacho Monreal as a centre back alongside Rob Holding with Elneny sitting in front of you, then you've clearly got issues.

Still waiting for one of the two or three spotty oompa loompa's here to quote where I've apparently said that Lallana is better than Coutinho? Nothing winds me up more when people just make something up. Absolute cretins of the highest order.

How underrated is Giroud. 99 goals in 229 is quite impressive.

Arsenal would of lost last nights game last season. Obviously its good to win when you don't play well and you don't start the game with 4-5 first teamers, as we looked a different side when Ramsey and Giroud came on.

Any of the top 6 is in with a chance of the winning the Premier League, but i still think Man City will be the team to beat. I think Man Utd will come close too now they've signed Lukaku. I can see Spurs missing out on top 4 if they don't sort the Wembley hoodoo out. Chelsea will obviously not concede many, but im not so sure they'll score the goals to retain the title. As for Liverpool, they're similar to Arsenal, they'll beat a top 6 team one week, then lose to a bottom 6 team the next week.

Either way, this could be the most open and exciting Premier League we've had yet.

They were very dodgey at the back but they were without Kos and Mustafi. But eh, dont let that stop you having another cheeky dig about The Arsenal though eh.

I hardly think stating the obvious is having a dig!

I bet Arsene is relieved Giroud refused his offer to leave isn't he?

He's always been a very good player for me. He's a bit like how Crouch was for Liverpool in that he's technically much better than he looks and his size, only he scores much better goals than Crouch ever did.

I think City will be the stand out team this year. The rest I couldn't predict exactly where they will finish with any confidence whatsoever. I feel like excluding City all the team are two or three players short, and so we'll have to see what happens in the rest of the window. If Arsenal were to sign Van Dijk and someone like N'Zonzi even then I think they'd be genuine challengers.

The problem with Giroud is that he is a product of the modern age where it is ok to cheat. I've always rated him, but his continuance of falling to the ground when barely touched is frustrating to say the least. He has all the attributes to be a top forward and if he stayed on his feet I think he would score more than he does. Although, as pointed out above, he has a decent return anyway.
