Kit on Friday

Can anyone throw some light on why we wore yellow shorts and stockings against Bury?

Surely Vale, as the home club, should not be subjected to any kit change in any potential clash?

If the visitors have not brought the proper kit, they should be fined, and borrow alternative kit off the home side, surely we have training kit without logos etc.

Regardless, I thought it looked well smart, as I did when we wore it at Bradford on the opening day. I'd like us to keep it personally.

So did I, shorts go very well with the yellow top to the kit. I'd rather us wear something that's our rather than expect the away side to wear something of ours, although of course we have had to at Huddersfield and Grimsby to name just 2.

I'm sure we went to Barnsley once and wore their away kit. We won 3-0 if I remember rightly.

Remember a game at Grimsby and we had to play in red tops, as every strip we bought clashed some how. Not a good day as they won as well.

Looked good and may be could be a lucky strip for us.

I believe we played in red shirts during the 20s, not that I can remember it.

We had to wear our training kit at Bury a few years back and Grew went Sports Direct to get some white socks... Bury did us no favours then so why should we have Friday... although not sure how our black kit clashed with their Brown/Sky Blue halves shirts that day!

Did look ok with the yellow shorts though, goes well with the top of the shirt.

I'm in two minds about the change...

1) I really liked the combination of white shirts / yellow shorts, it stood out under the floodlights nicely. We should consider using it more.

However...

2) I don't like us being nice and agreeing to things like this, it shows a lack of steel and edge. No one else has done it for us, we should have said no, it might have given us the tiny psychological edge to get the 3 points.

That was the game where Craig Davies and Richards were fighting over who took the penalty - I've still got the signed top Davies wore that day as he chucked it up to us at the end
