Smurfs Blueprint

Recommended Posts

Smurfs blueprint to say season tickets next season frozen at this seasons price when in fact they have gone up £20 for early bird offer by the end of May then go up another £20 from June so where is the price freeze.
Headline bait, the detail is usually different in newspapers adds etc. Factually correct, the cost of buying a 2016/17 season ticket(Not a discounted one}is the same as the cost of buying a 2017/18 season ticket before the price goes up in June 2017. The freeze lasts from June 16 until the end of May 17, not from January 2016 as the headline inferred. Naughty but not uncommon.

The longer Smurf is running this club with his zero plan going forward the more the club will go down the pan. Unfortunately the future does not look bright for Port Vale and this stems from the club being poorly run for far too many years.

People assume a lot, how do you know he doesnt have a plan?

When has the future ever looked bright? Ok there has been the odd season here and there but generally it's never looked bright..it's one of the reasons we like PVFC!!!!!

Maybe he has but if he has it doesn't look like it's working. The ground is worse than when he took over, the catering is very poor, the squad is not up to scratch, he's gone through 3 managers in as many years, attendances are down.

My guess is that he hasn't got a long term plan and everything is done on a week by week basis.

The future has looked very bright in the past but not for a long time, not just from when Smurf has been here. For a while things did look a lot better when Smurf came in but IMO due to the lack of a long term plan things have gone backwards again and I just can't see how we can turn things around without either a huge cash injection or a change of ownership.

What's your plan then if you get rid of smurf

It would be nice to see someone run the club properly, do the right things behind the scenes, raise cash to take the club forward and get fans in through the door. None of which I see Smurf doing at the moment.

If Smurf doesn't go he needs to take a back seat and let someone who can do just this.

Agree but he still doesn't deserve all the abuse he gets

True however, constructive criticism is always needed. Port Vale badly needs some change atm. NS I believe is trying his best and he certainly has put his money where his mouth is. But he needs sit back and let someone else run it and not some club secretary from Rochdale either.

Who exactly? There are plenty of chancers out there a lot worse than Smurf. If anyone worthwhile had come in for the club when it was on the market last year we'd have found out about it by now.

Sorry but if Smurf decided to cut his losses and go there's no other game in town.

The secretary you mean?

Read on the radio interview thread that apparently it sounded as though Garlick is mostly running the club these days, & Smurf takes a bit of a backseat? Mario posted it, I haven't heard the interview though. So maybe he is carrying out the duties of a CEO?

I think he was suggesting smurf bring in a CEO , not sell out

Do u think he's doing a good job?

I don't know Iv'e never met him but Norman hired him after Lodey went to do a more of a CEO/Secretary role to take the day to day running off Smurf he said so on the radio last week!

Wouldn't hurt for him to maybe introduce himself to the fans maybe via a Radio or press appearance to at least tell the fans what exactly his role at the club and what powers if any he has, what his plans for the future etc!

over to you Lee Blakeman and Mike Bagguley
