Matchday Thread : Port Vale v Oxford United

I don't know whether he is yet ready but having a big lad up front means that we win more aerial battles and he occupies defenders because he's awkward and enthusiastic. That has to help the player alongside him.

I think fans would like to see us have 2 up front and if Taylor is deemed fit it might allow Jones to move into the centre.

We surely need to shake the bag again because it wasn't right the other night.

Oxford will bring the largest away following visit Vale of the season today and there players will be at full tilt trying to win the game for them .

So its a big game so lets hope we start the game at full tilt ourselves and get in there faces and press high up the pitch .

That means we defend from the front 2 ,with every player ,giving 110 per cent and hopefully because of that we will have goal attempts and make there goalie work and get a level of performance in which is acceptable .

Is Taylor ready ?

Foley and Thomas aint going be risked ,a big blow that but better not be rushed back and make there injuries even worse.

Is purkiss going get back in and r we going be positive and not play like the away side .

Today will tell me a lot ,we need be quicker ,i want c midfield players busting a gut to get in that box,the ball needs to be moved quicker and i want c a will to win what has mot been evident for the last few saturdays 0_2 Cov ,4_0 SU .

Utv the team well u could pick the 11 most talentedplayers ever but if they cannot do the basics and be brave enough get in there then it wouldnt matter one iota winning games of football is believe related and all about believing that firstly uwill win your personal battle with your opponent .

The popular bookies make Oxford favourite today: 3/2

Vale 2/1.

The draw 5/2.

Vale must score from open play and Browns comments suggest a more direct aproach. If so and Vale score first, the bookies may be proven to be wrong.

Vale 2 Oxford 1.

...604 visitors from Coventry, so that's the figure to beat. Let's hope they do, because we could do with the money! However, they have apparently only sold 277 tickets in advance, so may find it difficult to top 604. Presumably a lot of their fans chose to go to their match at Coventry rather than visit Burslem this weekend!!!

Could go with no actual main striker on the pitch at this rate . Think this would suit Bruno's s approach . Looking like Cecilia only going start in checkertrade . From Browns comments more direct approach needed so he may start. Bruno formation would be 3-7-0 streets smith and knops . Purkiss Taylor Grant Foley Tavares Jones Amorous and Hart . Brown formation would be 4-4-2 with Cecelia starting
