Under pressure from fans like you who have no patience or understanding of building a football team.

 

I'm prepared to give Bruno and the team more than 1.6% of the season before I make a judgement.

 

I dare say I've been following Vale since before u had nibble on your first Rusk and never have I heard and manager say he's turning Vale into Barcelona over night and winning the league by Xmas (ok not quite but he he's made outrageous statements) so if we lose at home to Southend he DEFO IS under pressure.

I know he's new Michael, but unless we get a drubbing, I doubt Bruno will be under any real pressure. We have had a fairly decent first game at Bradford, & an awful performance against a lower league club in the cup. Smurf may not be happy with the start if we do lose again on Saturday, but I think to say any further would be a bit over the top. Especially as even Smurf is saying we're looking to sign more players, so he's obviously not happy with the current squad.

 

I remember people coming on here often, criticizing Page & talking about him being under pressure last season, but I never really heard anyone call for his head at a match. Since then, I know Smurf has come out & said he basically pushed him out of the door with the budget etc, but still, bit soon to talk about Bruno being in trouble.

Smurf may not be happy with the start if we do lose again on Saturday, but I think to say any further would be a bit over the top. Especially as even Smurf is saying we're looking to sign more players, so he's obviously not happy with the current squad.

 

If Smurf is saying publicly that he is not happy with the current squad, the majority of whom have been signed by Bruno, surely that puts more pressure on the manager than anything the fans are saying?

Teams that have lost their last game, like Southend, are always dangerous as they'll be desperate to put it right.

They've got a few excellent players who we'd have in our side in a heartbeat. Mooney & Cox up front are very good players, so don't anyone think it's an easy game.

Southend are in a club record run of x7 league games on the trot & have not won in x9 competetive games now........

He got a draw against Bradford and could have snatched a win. The result was better than last years away defeat, the season where we finished closer to the play offs than we have in decades....

No matter what formation we play people will moan, if we play 2 up top and get over ran in midfield these same fans will moan he should have packed the midfield, if we play 5 at the back and get a draw then they will moan we were too defensive. I would hate be manager of Vale. The important thing is for the manager to play the formation he is used too and thinks we can perform with. We only have look at England in the euros if you don't stick to your team and keep chopping and changing you will fail.

 

The year we got promoted we kept our formation and team until after Christmas, then we changed the system to suit Griff's arrival and nearly threw it all away.

Actually we changed the formation and style to accommodate Hughes.

Although with him liking 4-3-3 I wouldn't be suprised if he goes with the same team as bradford. Depending on how good the loan striker is he may come in too if he arrives before Saturday.

 

 

Anything other than that would be dissapointing. Not perfect with Foley on the right but noone else really looks like a decent winger. Also Forrester was poor at Carlisle whereas Hooper looked one of our better players and a partnership with big Gino could be the way forward.

Players will still be settling in and won't want to lose the first home match so it will be a little bit cagey and nervous.
