With the amount of money he has, I'd bet it's almost certain there will be a way around it, some form of 'special clearance' I imagine.

Why? Surely with the sort of money he is being paid, you have an accountant and business advisor so that you can concentrate on football and recovery time. Just made the wrong choice, whether he was complicit I have not followed the case.
