It was wide of the goal so probably not unless the ref thought it was violent conduct. A yellow would probably have been fair enough.

 

I'd agree it was wide but the force of the challenge and uncontrolled nature of it could certainly have resulted in a red. Borderline between yellow and red for me.

Can you show me where, in the laws of the game, it states how much of the ball must be played in a tackle for it to not be a foul?

 

Put it this way, if one of our players was through on goal and a defender tackled and got the slightest touch on the ball and brought our player down, isn't it a foul? It's the same thing, Dicko needed to take the ball away from their player.

Actually no it isn't. Dicko won the ball quite clearly. If it was a toe and in this case it wasn't, he still won it. No foul and no penalty.

Its down to personnel opinion so really no one is wrong. They just have a different opinion.

If you play the ball before the player it can't be a foul unless you've used excessive force or whatever the law says. That's why Shawcross was unlucky yesterday - he clearly played the ball yet got a second yellow.

Not a fan of moaning about refs but the game hinged on 2 decisions, their penalty which was dubious at best and the stonewall penalty we should have had. I didn't think either team did enough to win it, only Alnwick, McGivern, Duffy and Birchall played to their potential. Unfortunately, our 3 midfield heavyweights (Grant, Foley, O Connor) were all miles below their best. A blip for the first 2, more of the same for the latter. Grant and Foley in the middle at Exeter please.

Dickinson won the ball fairly. No penalty and one of the very few occasions where both managers agreed it was a poor decision.

 

The officials for the cup games are decided tomorrow. I really hope we don't get this homer again. Otherwise we can forget round three.

You know you're playing **** when you let Calvin Andrews run the game. This is the same player that could barely stand on his own two legs for us not that long ago he was that useless.

 

We were shocking and got exactly what we deserved - Zilch. Rochdale are far from a good side on yesterday's evidence but absolutely deserved the 3 points once their manager made a change, a change thand Rob Page would never have made. Page still has absolutely no idea how to change games and generally leaves his substitutions far too late. The jury is still very much out on him for me.

 

I thought Page did change the game with his subs - last match v Blackpool. Forgotten already eh. Also if Uche passes and the ref gives the penalty, we should be 3 1 up and he's done it again.

Thanks for the kind reply. I also understand what your feelings are towards such posters. But I also understand their feelings. They so very much want the club to do well, but they get so frustrated when they think that the team should win and then go and lose.

 

One day, I don't know just how soon that will be, but when we are in the top six, everyone will be posting messages of great glee and enthusiasm. UP THE VALE!!!

 

Do they want the club to do well though? I honestly believe that half a dozen or so posters on the early stages of this thread were delighted that we lost, meaning that they could come back on here with their agendas. they were certainly quite during our great run. personally i would have "luved it" if we had won yesterday and Page had got manager of the month - that would have been so funny after all the abuse he takes on here!
