...as long as he looks lively in the box and scores goals, that will do for me; there are 9 other outfield players who can do the donkey work.

I seem to remember Jimmy Greaves and Gary Lineker being criticised for being lazy and not contributing enough in certain games, but no-one moaned about their goal haul at the end of the season!

I was a big fan of Leon, I understand that the headless chicken approach is not always correct, just don't think JJ is quite ready yet, but he could be good with the right development.

Surely thats a positive? Decent strikers have moments in games where they arent involved, but then pop up and bag the winner. I think the Maidenhead match is the perfect chance to give him a go.

Darren Beckford didn't look lively in a lot of games but then would come to life for half an hour and bang one,two or 3 goals in,so if JJ is anything like that then i will take him not looking lively

Disagree with that. I'd say Pope put himself about quite a lot, maybe a little bit too much as times (finding himself too wide when you wanted him in the box).

 

He did a lot of work defensively a times. I remember one particular game where he sprinted back on an oppositions counter attack and got to the penalty area before most of the rest of the team.

I'm not sure I trust Page's opinion on strikers he rates Leitch-Smith and rated Williamson enough to offer a new contract. Neither have scored a goal since February and have managed 3 between them this calendar year! This is why I struggle to accept his judgement on Campion not being good enough and now not giving Hooper a chance!!

Campion has his chance to shine at Torquay, if he does well there I am sure RP will look at him for the first team.

Re Andoh. Personally I wouldn't have played him on the left at the expense of Marshall who was one of our three best players last year.
