Normans view.

Page & Bodin made a bad call......but sacking? Duffy & Inniss screwed up, Alnick cost us against Gillingham, strikers have missed chance after chance, but are we going to get rid? Let's keep some prospective over all this and learn from the errors.

Keeping things in perspective, no chairman should ever be tweeting about the club, and to criticise the manager publicly is totally unprofessional.

For me the whole thing has tainted what has been a positive start to the season.

I'm not sure if Page should have responded by talking about "people having a pop" at him/team.

He would have been better saying nothing and then beating Carlisle about 6-0.

What a weird week at PVFC!

I suspect he was asked directly about it by the press. His alternative, saying something along the lines of "no comment", would have produced a ***** storm on here with folk reading all sorts of stuff into it.

Good response I thought, explained his position and management philosophy

Seriously. Tainted the start of the season. are you on a wind up

I think it (i.e. Smurthwaite's comments) has tainted it, just as Norman's negative comments about budgets tainted the pre-season build up. It doesn't mean the start of the season's suddenly got worse, it's just put a bit of a dampener on it, like a scratch on a new Ferrari. Stupid thing is, it's all utterly unwarranted. As I said before, best chairman we've had in my lifetime, obviously a highly successful business man and seemingly a really decent guy. But by God, can he put his foot in it sometimes.

Page & Bodin made a bad call......but sacking?

Probably people putting 2 + 2 together and coming up with 5.

Smurf did say about reviewing Pages contract at end of September. He was obviously annoyed by what happened this weekend.

After Smurfs comments over the weekend he was asked -

Are you able to share the reasons or would that not be appropriate?

He replied.

Not at this time.

It leaves the door wide open for speculation.

But I don't see what good it would do to sack him, where the money would come from to pay him off and get a replacement in (other than possibly Bodin). So I would guess the sacking is a nothing story.

I think the earlier part was also problematic.

When Norman was asked if he would have said what he said if the Bradford directors had kept their gobs shut, he replied

Yes

As l have my reasons

It was then that Jacko51 queried what those reasons were and he said about 'not at this time'.

He's just muddied the water and allowed all manner of speculation be hurled around. I'm so frustrated! We'd scoff and jeer if (e.g.) the Crewe chairman did stuff like this.

He might be thinking the same as many of the fan's.Page has had the money to spend and we still haven't got the missing link to the team - A Striker.

And also the most expensive link, whether we have to wait for a loan or for the current players to link better in the scoring area, and be more willing to have a pot, only time will tell. Patience maybe in short supply, but so are the options.

I actually think it's irrelevant what was behind his tweets (although we had scored 6 in the 3 league games prior to Bradford). It shouldn't be aired in public. It's embarrassing, has no positives whatsoever and is an unsettling impact. Smurthwaite comes across as a rank amateur with rubbish like this, it strikes me as something Michael Knighton might have done.

Again Hobblesworth gets on his soap box. Listen Smurf ain't perfect, he won't get everything right (by his own admission ), he's relatively new to the football business and has and will make mistakes for example his handling of the Morsy issue but what the hell do u want from an owner? This guy is open and honest and pumps his hard earned money into Vale every season yet people like you have still got to spread your negative poison over our club, maybe u were happier when we were owned ? Before the Doncaster game I had the privilege of an in depth conversation with Smurf in the paddock and the sincerity and enthusiasm of this guy is the huge breath of fresh air this club has lacked for decades, either support our owner or sling your hook.

Negative poison! Ha! I've praised NS far more than I have criticised him and the vast majority of fans on here and the pundits on Radio Stoke just now are of the same opinion as myself. And you, you utter hypocritical goon, have the temerity to criticise me for being negative when you pumped bilge like

Vale deserve to lose this

and

Not good enough Vale just goes to show we got no goals in the team, way to wreck my day Vale. Thing worries me now that we're fully spent up this is as good as it gets for us

all over the Crewe thread. Absolute blend.
