Pope confirms 3yr deal at Bury.

Well, "little Bury" would appear to have more backing than "sleeping giant" Port Vale. Time will tell whether this is a good move for both parties. Good luck Tom and thank you for all those magic memories. Hope fully Rob Page has a few options lined up to replace you. And at least Popey didn't go to the Shrews - that would have been awful.

Except didn't Beamish join us from Blackburn not Bury? Still remember thinking hat a good signing he was at the time, in the days when top strikers didn't seem to mind working their way down the leagues as their careers drew to a close. We need another one of those now to replace Popey.

Now Ken Beamish - he was a bargain. £12,000 was it? The equaliser he scored late in the Cup at Hull, allowing us to giant kill them at Vale Park, Billy Bremner and all, must have paid for his transfer fee in one night! Still remember that game.

One of my favourite memories...was at the gates at Boothferry Park waiting go home when he popped that header in. We played them off the park in the replay...3-1!

Best of luck to him, sorry to see him go and would much prefer to keep him and lose Dodds and Birchall but in Page we trust :-(

Great deal for him and if he stays fit I can see him doing a job for them

Look forward to welcoming to VP next season, 'He's one of our own, he's one of our own....'

Thanks for the memories and goals!

3year deal at this stage of his career is a great deal for Pope, sad to see him go though.

Good luck to you Tom.

It's also a bit of a gamble as he never seemed to have fully recovered from his injury/operation.He just Didnt seem to be the same player.

I fully expect to see Tom to score against Vale then run over and do some sort of gesture in Smurfs direction as part of his celebration.Similar to what he did against Rotherham.

You are correct, and strangely enough Beamish, who was a fans favourite was our top scorer for 2 seasons and we then sold him to Bury, much to the fans frustration !!! Sound familiar!
