Not surprised he got sacked.

 

But they came close in the play-offs and almost made it.

It shows you what a fine line there is and how impatient some chairmen are.

But they are a 'big club' at this level and should really be in the top ten in the Championship at least so I can see where he's coming from.

Really???? They didn't look that great when they got stuffed 0-3 at home to Reading to miss out on the play-offs last game of the season.

Sheffield United need to stop changing manager every season if they want to achieve anything.

To be fair I'd agree with Andy as Derby made the play offs last season and just dipped out on them this season, far better than Clough did.

A couple of decent cup runs have papered over the cracks but Sheffield United's bread and butter has been poor, and it's been poor for some time, going back before Micky Adams' ill-fated tenure. This season they finished a distant fifth in League One last season but the top four were head and shoulders above the rest of the league and it showed.

 

At Bramall Lane in March they looked a poor side. They had no composure, couldn't retain the ball and late in the game they were hacking every ball away with an 'anywhere will do' mentality even when they were under no pressure from Vale side with very little cutting edge. On Boxing Day they were poor until they had a man sent off - oddly enough they gave us more of a game with 10 men than they did with 11, but it was a sleeves rolled up mentality rather than a great deal of quality.

 

I don't think Clough is a particularly good manager, and he has all the charisma and personality of a USB cable, but given that a lot of managers have tried and failed at Sheffield United going back 5 years or more, you have to start looking for the common denominator and if I was a Blades fan I would be asking questions of who is making the appointments.
