That's harsh, he blew it massively. The reasons behind that I'm not clear on; injuries etc may have played a part, but still. Losing so heavily against a mediocre side, in a game they had to win was a poor show. They have some excellent players at Derby- Hughes, Russell, Martin etc and hey should have at least made the play offs with ease.

 

Saying that, I think it's a bit of a drastic decision, especially as the cream of the crop will get picked off- Will Hughes especially.

I see that Bradford's Phil Parkinson is the early odds-on favourite for the Sheff U job.

 

While on the subject of new manager odds, Aspin is the favourite for the Gateshead job (who his Halifax finished one place ahead of, albeit on the same points).

I think its a sad reflection of todays game that he was sacked when he came so close to promo in the 1st div and his successes in other competions. I would have said give him another chance next season. Was is contract up?.

Apparently a record year for the sacking/changing of managers and even more so with coaches. When will these chairmen/ boards learn patience or even basic management skills. It is also stated that many managers who are sacked from their first management job,never find another. Is there any qualification required for football management? If not, why not?

Paul Clement from Real Madrid is the favourite for the Derby job,I remember speaking to him a few years ago when he brought his Chelsea youth team down to Vale Park,a decent bloke who'll talk football with the fans.

Really???? They didn't look that great when they got stuffed 0-3 at home to Reading to miss out on the play-offs last game of the season.

 

Under clough, derby flirted with relegation. When he left they flirted with promotion. Im not sure how losing a game to just miss out on the play offs changes this.
